The $9m raised from the Presidential Ball last night can easily fix Masvingo and Kariba State of Disasters if the Party scales down its annual gathering and address national emergencies.
It will be a people centered gesture of the highest order .

One of the things very hard to do when you lead anything, I mean when you lead anything, and you want to get stuff done, is hiring people who actually GET STUFF done.
I have found that in Zimbabwe, there are plenty of educated people, and plenty more who think they are educated. But here is the kicker - THEY CAN’T get SHIT done. Some of them are like wheelbarrows. Pawarisiya ndipapo.
Strive Masiyiwa is wildly successful. He gets stuff done and seems to be good at getting people who get stuff done.
Mzaya @tawandan1 has done well in business, owns the second largest asset manager after Old Mutual. He had succeeded not because of his Masters degree in law but because he gets stuff done.
Tagwirei is successful not only just because he is smart, but when he puts his hand and mind on to something, he envisions stuff, gets it done, and he hires people who get the stuff done.
Wicknell was not an educated man. But if you listened to him, and read beyond his arrogance and braggadocio, he was not an average Joe. You just don’t wake up and start knocking at the doors of Presidents and so on. He had a skill that gave him that access. There are many people who COULD have access but they don’t have it. Highly likely, he got stuff done, without a degree or A Level education.
Even when parents look at their kids, they can see who among them is capable and can get shit done and who is incapable and can’t get much done.
Do you get stuff done!!!
The passing of Sekuru vangu Moyo, Wicknell Chivhayo, is a sad occurrence.
It arrives as yet another sobering reminder of the one law that governs us all; we live only to die. That is the law of God, inescapable and incorruptible. It is precisely for that reason that while we are still granted breath, each man must live his life in his own way, according to the light he has been given.
Dying is not about who wished you dead, nor about who had power over you. It is natural. It is the final democracy, the one appointment that wealth cannot postpone and influence cannot cancel.
In our African culture, wafa wanaka. Whatever grievances and differences we carried in life are rendered weightless in that moment, for death is a sacred intervention of God that reduces everything else to ashes. What remains is our humanity.
That is why Ubuntu must now prevail in us. He was a husband, a brother, a father, a son, a friend to someone. He leaves behind a family that knew him not as a headline, but as a presence in the house.
That awareness should tone down the impulsive urges that lack decorum, the rush to dance on a grave to settle old scores.
Personally, I had my differences with him. Yet notwithstanding that, we still spoke. I never failed to respect how streetwise he was. Arguably, he was the most streetwise person in this country; a man who read the times with a shrewdness that others mistook for mere bravado.
He understood the zeitgeist, the currents of power and patronage, and navigated them with a brilliance that was, in its own way, undeniable.
His acts of giving remain astounding, because ultimately, no man can be directed on how to spend his own money Not many, no matter how they acquired their wealth, justly or unjustly, are able to share it in the manner that he did. To give, even ostentatiously, still requires a certain kind of heart. Many who have more, give less.
Ultimately, rufu nderwa Mwari. That is why the most vainglorious thing a man can do is to revel in the prophesy of another man's death, as if he were the custodian of the Book of Life.
What none of us knows are the times and the places, otherwise each new day is simply a quiet step towards our own end. That is why, while alive, some of us have chosen to focus on working for our families first, to build what we can while there is still light, because death is the only constant and life is the only variable.
We are, all of us, ducks in a row forever marshalled, towards the inevitable embrace of death. No one jumps the queue forever.
Fambai zvakanaka Sekuru. Ndichanetsana nani zvamaenda. Zororai murugare Moyo.
@Eng_BrianM@RexMidzi That’s how it should be. Let’s not normalise expecting to be given everything. Let’s encourage our people to work for and earn what they have.
Today is DAY 44 since ~100 people were killed when a ferry operated by Mnangagwa's office capsized. Mnangagwa never visited to console the families. The families only got $100 and a coffin. No one was held accountable. RIDA's director is still gallavanting. Life goes on!
Reuters: India's Lohum ships first lithium ore from Zimbabwe.
I thought the Minister of Mines banned exports of lithium ore.
How is this Indian company exporting raw lithium “to strengthen India’s EV supply chains?” 😳
