Amos Alonzo Stagg lived to be 102, and coached for 58 years. After winning a championship, a reporter asked him, “Coach, what do you think of your team?” Stagg said, “I’ll tell you in 20 years.”
Who they would become was more important to him than the scoreboard, wins, and record
Determining Indigenous Identity by Indian registers, blood quantum, racist and deeply sexist sections of the Indian Act and clouded memories is indicative of our impoverished view of citizenship.
We, Albert & Alpha Lafond family, accept Mary-Ellen Lafond and her sisters as Cree. Our family is one and understand her family history which is like many #Indigenous families - affected by government and church interventions. Mary-Ellen is our sister, niece, aunt and cousin.
@bonsjl @JulieSLalonde Another good one is thinly sliced with a mandolin you use olive oil and Montreal steak spice and bake it (I forget how long a catering company I worked for did it) great side dish
@bonsjl @JulieSLalonde I don’t have a ton of zucchini recipes (surprisingly) but my 2 favs are : grill basket on bbq of red pepper, red onion, portobello, zucchini and asparagus, top with olive oil and grill then add to wraps, salad , pizza, or a vegan pesto pasta
Today our family is taking a moment to honour and remember Jordan River Anderson and the fight that will continue to be fought to ensure First Nations children receive equitable access to services. #BearWitnessDay#JordansPrinciple
Dear Journalists reporting on COVID. Please do not use “Indigenous” unless the issue applies to all three groups to the same extent. First Nations, Métis and Inuit have distinct circumstances that get lost in umbrella terms like Indigenous and make it harder to tackle.
Before and after. Believe it or not, my room has seating for 28. That’s just counting table surfaces. Add in clipboards and the carpet/bench area and there’s space for well over 30. That before pic? All those desks still only gave me seating for 24. Kind of a no brainer. 🤷♀️

Literacy with a Northern Focus, session, took place on Range Lake where students searched for loose parts in nature that matched their colour chips. Learning the English words for their findings, and a LOT about the outdoors along the way! #rangelakenorth#innovationyk1
A special thanks to this group of SJF students, who have volunteered a block of time each week for a 5 week cycle, to teach our students how to drum! Loving the multi- school collaboration!
