@BEH353_Brynn@beh353 Hi Brynn, I love how you will make patients aware of the potential effects of diabetes in their eyes; it's incredible how nutrition and health are woven into every healthcare professional's career. @beh353#beh353
After learning about the food pyramid this semester and how many especial vitamins and minerals, this is a great article on tips on how to add more to your diet and the health benefits @beh353#beh353
#DYK: Adding fruit can help increase the amount of fiber and potassium we eat. These are important nutrients that many people do not get enough of. More tips on healthy eating here https://t.co/KJCYODOXkH
As a future physician assistant, I will definitely incorporate everything I've learned this semester into my career into my daily life. I have much more nutrition knowledge that I couldn't have gotten anywhere else. @beh353#beh353
This can apply to what we learned this week, where a casserole is so fast and easy to make while still being nutritional balanced. Some people don't have the time or money to buy expensive groceries and cook. @beh353#beh353
@DikoMadison@EmmaDArpinoRD@beh353 I agree, Madison! Many people and health care professionals tell people to cut out "junk food," causing patients more stress and anxiety and a bad relationship with food. Offering alternatives is a significant step @beh353#beh353
Thank you so much, @EmmaDArpinoRD, for this week's lecture. I had no idea about non-dairy milk and how it must have almost no protein! Thank you for all the research and resources you included for us. I appreciate it. @beh353#beh353
During what I learned in week 12, this would definitely be a good thing for parents to include into a child's diet for complex carbs and also, buying in bulk will save money in the long run @beh353#beh353
https://t.co/oSuUwg3VAj when I become a health care professional, I would show parents this article because these are proven facts that would help a child that is backed by science @beh353#beh353
@angnavo24@beh353 I agree Angie, it was so upsetting seeing how many patients have experienced this in their life. I feel a lot of patients may not seek help from health care providers because of judgment. @beh353#beh353
when watching the video, & from first hand experience when I was overweight, its was heartbreaking to hear other people had the same stories as me. Drs not providing care or downplaying the illness because of weight. As a future PA I will not judge. @beh353#beh353
After learning about obesity and fad diets, this article goes into detail about the small things we can do to improve our physical and mental health, instead of some advice that isn't realistic @beh353#beh353
Being physically active is one of the most important actions that people of all ages can take to improve their health. Learn more from the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans https://t.co/RGHIspaTYN
What I learned this week that I didn't know is that there are so many factors that can happen to lead a person to become obese, like being so stressed your body holds onto the extra weight or the food deserts in low-income areas @beh353#beh353
@annekit3 @beh353 Hi Anne, I agree. Because low-income areas don't have any grocery stores and only have corner stores or dollar stores, which don't sell fresh fruits and vegetables. So they rely on processed food, causing multiple health problems such as obesity @beh353#beh353
This really highlights what we are learning this week. Because in food deserts and low-income areas, sometimes school lunches are the only fruit and vegetables a child gets during the day. We should be incorporating more of them into the lunches @beh353#beh353

Avocados offer so many vitamins and nutrients, but they don't have much flavor, so you could add them to smoothies to get extra nutrients that you may be lacking. @beh353#beh353
@AllenSuiyanka @beh353 Hi Allen, I agree. I tend to always go for something sweet to give me temporary satisfaction instead of something that would have nutritional value, and then I end up regretting and beating myself up over my choices @beh353#beh353
A barrier for me is lack of time to plan and shop; with working 2 jobs and going to school full time it's almost impossible for me to go to the grocery store and have time to cook healthy meals; I always go for fast and convenient @beh353#beh353
I got these vitamins as a free trial for immunity boost, I'm not sure if the claims they actually make are true, I've been taking them for 2 weeks and I haven't noticed a difference in my health or wellness @beh353#beh353
@Faithfullfittt@beh353 hi faith, I've always wondered if the claims they make actually reduce stress and help people relax. I've always heard so many different opinions on supplements @beh353#beh353
