Posting this on Twitter as well to continue to spread awareness on the situation in #Nicaragua.
For over 3 yrs, there have been uprisings against president #DanielOrtega who has completely demolished democracy in the country. Tap on the photos to learn more 👇🏼

“I’d like to thank my terrible childhood, and the Academy, in that order. I’d like to thank my veterinarian, I meant, wife, Susan Downey. She found me a snarling rescue pet, and loved me back to life.”

Growing up no one knew Nicaragua, in classes i was the underdog having an accent, my features different from the rest.
If people knew about Nicaragua is usually for the negative. But now the world knows, miss universe 2023 is Nicaragua! I am Nicaraguan! 💙💙💙
#English | At least 20 Nicaraguans were kidnapped by Daniel Ortega’s dictatorship during the first ten days of April, most during Holy Week, a period in which the dictatorship prohibited processions and religious celebrations in the streets.

Nicaragua frees more than 200 political prisoners, including five former presidential hopefuls and other critics of President Daniel Ortega https://t.co/pLWtO88tCd
#Nicaragua: Just to be clear, the government of Ortega did not "release" nor "free" 222 political prisoners, including 4 priests and 2 seminarians.
They were banished from their homeland, forced to exile in a country that is welcoming them for the next two years.
If #Venezuela and #Nicaragua were included in this graph (ridiculously, they're not), you would have to change the scale completely.
The number killed by Nicaragua's regime more than quadruples Colombia's count.
Yesterday, Nicaraguan authorities "exhibited" ten political prisoners in their first public appearance since they were detained, some of them 15 months ago.
Most were pale and slim, a display of the cost of dissent in #Nicaragua.

Misinterpretation leads to misinformation. This was a defamation case. The libel case was the UK case. He was never convicted of 12 cases of abuse. The court ruled in favour of the sun that it didn't count as libel, with information that only became available in this trial.
