Had one of these LED badges around that hadn't been used for years, tried recharging but it wouldn't turn on.

My guess was that the microcontroller was stuck from a low voltage condition. Opened it up...

Battery is soldered on so instead looked up the datasheet for the microcontroller to find the reset pin.

A bit of probing and shorting it to the conveniently located ground pin next to it and it works! Complete with vintage pre-pandemic stored messages.

@khyperia @IanColdwater So my guess would be that the decimal fractions are inaccurate, the addition is done as double and the error is rounded away while assigning to float.

Release optimizes away v and uses the result directly in the comparison, rounding didn't happen and error stays. Nice one.
