#SPOTTED: Lead Public Affairs Counsellor @AndreaSarkic spoke with CTV’s @ToddCTV this afternoon about Day 4 of #elxn45, the latest poll numbers, and the Conservatives on the campaign trail in Quebec. #cdnpoli
Starting the day on home soil in DC, focused on supply chains and manufacturing (from ag to energy and autos), with @CdnChamberofCom, industry colleagues and our friends at the 🇨🇦 @Can_EmbassyUSA. Great discussion on the current US. administration, what messages are resonating and sobering numbers on trade realities and the vital inputs the U.S. needs from Canada to export abroad or increase their own domestic production/jobs. Of course all underpinned by trying to make sense of the political pressure points at play, across numerous districts and countries. #cdnpoli
MARKED SAFE (for now): Watching the 4 Nations Face-Off Finals with my American husband and surviving his insufferable comments. #4nationsfaceoff#cdnpoli#hockeydiplomacy
A shortcut for detecting if something is written with AI is they all use this symbol "—" throughout the writing. It's relatively rare when a human uses it, maybe once or twice, if that. But AI chats love using it. No clue why.
Great final @canstrongfree fireside chat w former PM @stephenharper & Premier Mike Harris. Emphasis on first 100 days of new govt, building trust, tough road ahead to get fiscal house in order & urgent need for change. Proud of what our previous govt accomplished & what’s ahead.
Great to see @jkenney — Canadians longest serving Immigration minister (and my former boss in my fave internship). Energizing to hear him speak to the value of immigration & importance of getting it right. The next CPC govt will have a strong model to look to. @canstrongfree
Breath of fresh common sense air w @canstrongfree & old conservative gang at Harper Econ Forum. @lraitt@PeterMacKay@joeoliver1@jackmintz talking 🇨🇦 econ outlook post US election—trade, taxes, tariffs, deregulation, productivity, competition, reputation erosion & nat security.
Shame; this tweet/headline should read (as per the facts): Man shoots two female family members in murder suicide. OR Man kills two female family members and himself. @CP24 approximately one woman or girl is killed every 48 hours — we need to shed light on what these crimes are.
So pleased to see Ambassador @KellyCraftKY back in Ottawa, joining Ambassador Giffon and @ppforumca for a lively debate and discussion on the Republican and Democrat Outlook: Canada and the Next U.S. Administration. #cdnpoli
@sjkelly1@ppforumca@SteinJanice@egreenspon Entering Japanese and South Korea auctions for hydrogen-as-ammonia, other major infrastructure for supply chain (including for critical minerals), LNG, national defence, closing the gap with the IRA etc….
Full house for @ppforumca#PPFfalllecture. It’s a critical time, as we hear @SteinJanice and @egreenspon say it’s all about supply chains and securing imperative supply chains — which the U.S. is doing. Separately, overall, Canada lacks urgency to get big things done. #cdnpoli
It was an another awesome day for the Coign crew at the Charlotte Motor Speedway for the NASCAR Bank of America Roval 400. 🏁
Thanks to @MBMMotorsports & @joshbilicki for being great partners. It was also great to be with the Hurricane relief volunteers who joined us in the pit!
Compass Rose was pleased to support and participate in the Mike McCann Charity Golf Tournament hosted by @CLVGroup and InterRent REIT to raise money for our communities. ⛳️ #uncommoncommongood
While we can’t share all the juicy details from our discussion re: what’s ahead for clients and 🇨🇦 this #cdnpoli session—I think our faces say it all @MarciSurkes! If you’re looking for trusted guidance through the uncertainty, minority parliament & pre-election, give us a call.
Our Chief Strategy Officer @MarciSurkes and Lead Public Affairs Counsellor @AndreaSarkic hosted a client webinar today, to dive into what to expect from the #cdnpoli parties as they look towards an election within the next year and what it means for government relations strategy.
Following mounting pressure, the @NDP leader @theJagmeetSingh announced today a formal end to the Supply and Confidence Agreement (#SACA) first announced in March 2022 that allowed the @liberal_party to govern without fear of losing a confidence vote.
The end of the formal agreement between the NDP and Liberals does not mean that Canadians will automatically head to the polls anytime soon. The Liberals have 154 seats which means they need 16 additional votes to pass legislation and confidence measures, such as the budget or Fall Economic Statement.
The government will also have to pay attention to opposition day motions, which can lead to a vote of no confidence. @PierrePoilievre and the @CPC_HQ will be looking for ways to wedge the government and other opposition parties on each of these motions. While Singh’s announcement may or may not impact the timing of the election, it will certainly motivate all parties to expedite their election preparations. #cdnpoli
Heartbreaking. Anyone celebrating what happened yesterday or saying “too bad he missed” — he might have missed his target but he took a life of a good American who had a loving family, was dedicated to community, and had so much life ahead of him. Shameful.
JUST IN: The man who was k*lled at Trump's Pennsylvania rally has been identified as former fire chief for Buffalo Township, Corey Comperatore.
Rest in peace.
Comperatore's last act on this planet was shielding his daughter from the bullets.
"The PA Trump Rally claimed the life of my brother, Corey Comperatore. The hatred for one man took the life of the one man we loved the most."
"He was a hero that shielded his daughters. His wife and girls just lived through the unthinkable and unimaginable," his sister said on FB.
"My baby brother just turned 50 and had so much life left to experience. Hatred has no limits and love has no bounds. Pray for my sister-in-law, nieces, my mother, sister, me and his nieces and nephews as this feels like a terrible nightmare but we know it is our painful reality."
Regardless of political stripe, it’s a consequential moment when a leader can immediately stand up in the face of terror/an attempted assassination & show strength. @realDonaldTrump ‘s reaction in this moment will be historic—defining the campaign & a moment in U.S. democracy.
