Ten years ago today I received my printed copy of the 1st edition of Elixir in Action.

The book was actually released about a month earlier, with the final e-book version published on May 29 (which I completely failed to celebrate, shame, shame 😬).

Writing this book was one of my most favorite experiences. It took a long time (about 18 months, start to finish), but it was so much fun (mostly 😅), and absolutely worth it! From the moment it hit MEAP, people began reaching out to say it helped them understand the magic behind Erlang and Elixir.

Becoming an author gave me a lot of exposure in the BEAM community It helped me grow professionally, get my talks accepted more easily. Most importantly, it allowed me to meet so many amazing people from all over the world and forge many great friendships.

So I'd like to offer some thanks, first and foremost to Joe, Robert, Mike, and José for giving us Erlang and Elixir, hands down my two favorite pieces of technology. To Manning for giving me the chance to write the book, and working with me to make it better. To all the reviewers for taking the time to read it carefully and provide useful feedback. To everyone who read it and recommended it to others. And finally, to the BEAM community, my second family ❤️
