A cronologia dos fatos:

Flávio Bolsonaro afirma que, se eleito, editará um decreto declarando que “o Brasil é do Senhor Jesus”;

Nos círculos neopentecostais, esse tipo de mensagem é compreendido como uma vitória espiritual sobre aquilo que esses grupos classificam como idolatria;

O temor dos católicos de retirada do título de padroeira do Brasil de Nossa Senhora Aparecida chega à imprensa por meio de uma jornalista experiente, que relata a existência de preocupação entre setores da Igreja Católica. Uma preocupação compreensível para quem conhece a visão de determinadas correntes neopentecostais sobre o catolicismo e, particularmente, sobre a devoção mariana;

A Globo afirma que a informação estava errada porque estaria relacionada a um projeto de lei já arquivado — projeto que, no entanto, nunca havia sido mencionado pela jornalista;

Parte da grande imprensa passa, então, a classificar como “fake news” um bastidor revelado por Maria Cristina Fernandes;

Na sequência, vêm à tona textos do pastor de Flávio Bolsonaro nos quais ele sustenta que o reconhecimento de Nossa Senhora Aparecida como padroeira do Brasil seria ilegal e a descreve como uma “potestade a ser vencida”. Também associa a devoção mariana à chamada “Rainha dos Céus”, relacionando essa expressão a Ártemis, divindade da mitologia grega mencionada no contexto bíblico;

Flávio Bolsonaro pede a censura das publicações sobre o assunto e chega a defender a prisão de quem as divulgou;

André Mendonça, pastor presbiteriano e ministro do TSE, atende ao pedido em cerca de uma hora, determinando a retirada de publicações e atingindo centenas de perfis;

Flávio Dino, do STF, restabelece a liberdade de expressão e anula a decisão do ministro do TSE;

Por fim, Flávio Bolsonaro acusa a CNBB de ter sido a origem da suposta “fake news”;

Os bispos da Igreja Católica reagem publicamente e desmentem a acusação.

Conclusão: Continuar chamando tudo isso de fake news é ter lado e engolir acriticamente a versão criada por Flávio e sua campanha, que cansam de mentir desde que o processo eleitoral começou.

This is insane.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio just gave one of the most explicitly pro-colonialist speeches I have seen in the 21st century.

The US empire wants Europe to help it recolonize the Global South.

Rubio praised Western colonialists for "settl[ing] new continents, build[ing] vast empires extending out across the globe".

Then Rubio complained about the Global South's decolonization, portraying it as a sinister communist plot.

Rubio lamented: "The great Western empires had entered into terminal decline, accelerated by godless communist revolutions and by anti-colonial uprisings that would transform the world and drape the red hammer and sickle across vast swaths of the map in the years to come".

Rubio delivered this speech at the Munich Security Conference, surrounded by European leaders, who gave him a standing ovation. They loved the pro-colonialist diatribe.

The US secretary of state insisted that North American and European imperialists should unite in order to reverse "the West’s managed decline", to revive "the West’s age of dominance", to "renew the greatest civilization in human history".

This is a blatant call by the US empire to resuscitate Western colonialism and recolonize the Global South (which represents the Global Majority).

What the US empire did to Gaza, Venezuela, and currently Cuba is what it wants to do to the entire Global South.

The head of the UN, the intergovernmental organization that represents the consensus voice of the world, says "Gaza is becoming a graveyard for children", says the conflict is the deadliest in recorded history for journalists and UN workers and reiterates his call for a ceasefire (which UN countries overwhelmingly voted in favor of).

Yet because the US doesn't support a ceasefire, it goes on... What better proof do you need that our planetary governance system is broken? That the "rules based order" is actually whatever the US decides, irrespective of international law?

This is actually stunningly short-sighted by the US as we enter a multipolar world. Because as its relative power versus others diminishes, it is in the US's interests to make sure there exists some rules besides "might is right". It would be in their interest to be able to point out to the fact that they bind themselves to rules and others should too. Instead it looks like the complete opposite: the more multipolar the world, the more the US seems keen to demonstrate that there are in fact no rules.

The US once again showed how much of a rogue regime it is by being the only country on the UN Security Council to vote against a call for “humanitarian pauses” to deliver life-saving aid to Palestinian civilians in Gaza.

This resolution was proposed by Brazil.

The day before, Russia also proposed a resolution demanding an "immediate, durable and full ceasefire" -- and the US, UK, France, and Japan voted against that call for peace.
