Is it just me or have the crowds at the World Cup been really surprising given the prices and noise before hand? Most world cups I remember - loads of games have been really, really empty. Feels the World Cup attendances have been really good / even for the rubbish games.
📣 Sinclair Armstrong joined Turkish side Göztepe for an undisclosed fee.
The club thank Sinclair for his contributions in a City shirt and wish him all the best for the future.
Understand Tommy Elphick has turned down the chance to become Bristol City manager. #AFCB want him to stay as a key party of Marco Rose's new coaching team @talkSPORT
@malstar79@HughWoozencroft Neither will play a minute. Every player has consistently said Henderson is a brilliant squad member, character , experience etc. so I guess that’s why he is in over Wharton - who would just sit on the bench for three weeks
@timfarron Not going to play though is he? Rice and Anderson clearly ahead of him for tuchel - then if struggling, Bellingham drops in. He wouldn’t play a minute.
And, yes, Toney clearly not a starter. But he is a specialist penalty taker - Foden and palmer weren’t getting near challenging rogers or Bellingham, so what’s the harm in putting your 26th pick as a pen specialist? Far more likely to have an involvement than the other two
The starting x1 was/ is never not going to be Pickford, oreilly, Guehi, kinda, James, rice, Anderson, Rogers (Bellingham) Rashford, saka, Kane - with Watkins, Gordon, (rogers or Bellingham) as key subs.
Not sure I get the fuss about Maguire not being in the squad. Wasn’t going to play anyway. Same as Trent missing out to Spence. Both just bench fillers anyway.
@JPercyTelegraph@BCFC_Supporters Not sure there is much potential to be honest John. Can’t compete financially. Good, solid club but certainly very little ambition. Elphick feels a very uninspiring appointment that sums up our pull.
Bit confused why the foul on raya was given but not the fouls by Trossard or Rice. A point likely would have been enough for Arsenal anyway - as will hammer Burnley - but zero consistency.
RIP Tony Parkes. Thoughts to all his family and friends today. Legend is often used too easily, but he was a total Blackburn Rovers legend and - having covered the club for a while - I know the extent to which everyone with any connection to Rovers loved him.
