“I was disappointed to see Djed Spence refuse to shake Thomas Partey’s hand before the game. For me, that is not the way football should be. Whether you like someone or not, whether there are allegations or controversies surrounding a player, respect should always come first until the facts are fully established.

What surprised me most is that Thomas Partey has not even been proven guilty of anything yet. We live in a society where people are too quick to judge and too quick to condemn before the courts have reached a final verdict. Why rush to punish a fellow man before the investigation is complete?

I believe everyone deserves fairness, everyone deserves due process, and everyone deserves a second chance if mistakes have been made. That’s the principle of justice. We cannot decide someone’s fate based on headlines, social media opinions, or public pressure.

Djed Spence is entitled to his views, but I think he should have waited for the legal process to run its course before making such a public statement through his actions. A handshake doesn’t mean you agree with someone. It means you respect the game, your opponent, and the values football was built on.

Football should never become a battlefield for politics, religion, race, or personal agendas. Football belongs to everyone. It should remain neutral and unite people rather than divide them.

When young players watch moments like this, what message are we sending? That accusations are enough to erase someone’s dignity? That public opinion is now more important than the rule of law? I don’t agree with that. Let the courts decide, let the investigation finish, and then people can make their judgments. Until then, respect costs nothing.”
