#5 The Surprise Film was… THE MENU. About smugness, to some extent, but also a bit too smug itself? Fiennes and Anya Taylor-Joy both very good. Crowd loved it. Some hilarious moments. #LFF

It’s that time of year again. BARDO, FALSE CHRONICLE OF A THOUSAND TRUTHS is film 1. Iñárritu follows THE REVENANT by regressing to his usual pretentious sound and fury. Quite bad. #LFF

#4 was TRIANGLE OF SADNESS, sharing an auditorium with Emma D’Arcy, Dominic West and Edgar Wright (I feel no guilt about enjoying the celebrity spotting). Maybe not quite as substantial as Östland’s other work, but still loads of fun. #LFF
