A very happy birthday to the one and only Roddy Lumsden, who would have been sixty today!
Two week's tomorrow, we'll be having a drink or two and listening to some of Roddy's old 7"s at the Waverley Bar in Edinburgh... all welcome, free entry.

@Martin_Dowds1@JulianD86666247@BloodaxeBooks@PoetryFound@PoetrySociety Likewise, Martin :) didn't meet RCL until about '93, but he made a lasting impression. Be great if you could make it along on 12th June, or if not let me know a record that reminds you of Roddy and we'll play it on your behalf!
Really looking forward to this night for Roddy Lumsden on 12th June. All are welcome, whether you're an old pal of RCL or know his work from @BloodaxeBooks or @ByLeavesWeLive

@memorialdevice@oasisworld_@NoelGallagher Come on man :) Not sure where you're going with this. "Musician plays gig for payment" doesn't seem like a gotcha. No idea whether yacht guy is a goody or a baddy... but if we're getting into purity tests there are probably better examples out there?
“And so it came to pass.
‘The most damaging pop cultural force in recent British history’ found its way into the hearts and minds of a new generation. From Gallagher Hill to the River Plate, from Croke Park on the banks of the Royal Canal to the City Of Angels, the love, joy, tears and euphoria will never be forgotten.
There will now be a pause for a period of reflection.”

Did we mention that we've published a new book about Glasgow's music? We did? Oh. Well, we're still shouting about our new book at a fab event at the

In a final insult to Glasgow and to the two centuries of biscuit-making by Macfarlane Lang & Co then @McVities in the East End of the city, multinational parent company @pladis_Global and property developer @Clowes_UK have demolished the historic main offices of the Victoria Biscuit Works at Clydeford Drive in Tollcross.
In 1925, the new Victoria Biscuit Works was opened in Tollcross. It was designed by Monro & Partners in an art deco moderne style. The architects also designed department stores for the growing Marks & Spencer chain, a major retailer of MacFarlane's biscuits.
I applied to have the main office building listed, but @HistEnvScot told me that when they turned up to survey it, all they found was a pile of rubble. @CentralDemo had torn the building down the week before.
Not even the decorative carved stonework bearing the historic name of the Macfarlane Lang company was spared.
This is an appalling, vicious act of vandalism.
@scyhodotcom@oasis Drove down to Manchester from Edinburgh... Creation had paid for huge billboards as you came into the city with photos of the band and "Rocking All Over the World." Total goosebumps moment. And an incredible show.
