@Cripletriple3@BroPresby@w_dodd23 “SHALL and IS TO BE/ARE TO BE signify practice that is mandated,” (Preface)
"The [PCUSA] SHALL guarantee full participation and representation in its worship, governance, and emerging life to ALL persons or groups within its membership” (BO F-1.0403) (3/3) 🧵
@Cripletriple3@BroPresby@w_dodd23 Furthermore, as a church, you have to send money to the denomination. A denomination, which is using that money to support sex-change surgeries on children and abortion. Moreover, only 4-5% of churches have applied for ROC. (2/3) 🧵
@Cripletriple3@BroPresby@w_dodd23@_ryanscott22_ The mere existence of a confession doesn't guarantee orthodoxy. The lack of discipline present in the PCUSA is evident, despite such a document.
@Cripletriple3@BroPresby@w_dodd23@_ryanscott22_ "...there are four causes that make a separation from a Church, lawful.
1. When they that separate, are grievously and intollerably persecuted.
2. When the church they separate from, is heretical.
3. When it is idolatrical.
4. When it is Seat of Antichrist."
(1/2) 🧵
@Cripletriple3@BroPresby@w_dodd23 I agree. However, there is no path forward in the PCUSA. The BO already has already codified the requirement to "...guarantee full participation and representation in its worship, governance, and emerging life to all persons or groups within its membership” (BO F-1.0403)
@Cripletriple3@BroPresby@w_dodd23 "A Church whose officers are not heartily agreed in doctrine, can only have peace within itself at the cost of a Sadducean indifference to truth."
R. L. Dabney
@Cripletriple3@BroPresby@w_dodd23 I agree that there is a wrong response to liberalism, but separation is necessary when the church has become widely corrupt. The OPC and PCA were small minorities (the OPC especially) in their respective churches, and those who stayed couldn't stop the inevitable.
@Cripletriple3@BroPresby@w_dodd23 I'm aware that Dr. Sproul was willing to work with women pastors and elders, but the GA later mandated that a minister must participate in all ordination ceremonies. In my opinion, the situation in the PCUSA today is worse than it was 50 years ago.
@Cripletriple3@BroPresby@w_dodd23 "...for me to remain in good standing in the church, I had to be willing to do things that violated my conscience. I appealed for exemption and requested that I be allowed to continue in the ministry without prejudice... The request was denied at a general assembly..."
@Cripletriple3@BroPresby@w_dodd23 Furthermore, the GA voted to form a commission to respond to the dissent regarding the decision on O37. The response was authored by the four presidents of the major Reformed seminaries in the USA and the chairman of the SJC. (2/2) 🧵
@Cripletriple3@BroPresby@w_dodd23 Dr. Morton Smith identifies the issue of WO as one of the grievances for separating from the PCUS. Besides, Dr. Sproul was and is in the minority regarding WO in the PCA. (1/2) 🧵
@Cripletriple3@BroPresby@w_dodd23 Dr. Sproul left the UPCUSA because he was required as a minister to participate in the ordination of a woman. He appealed to GA to have an exemption and was denied 700-13.
The 1st overture for consideration by the 54th #PCAGA has been received. The overture comes from Southwest Florida Presbytery and proposes to “Amend BCO 7-3 & 7-4 regarding Titles, Offices, and Unordained Roles.” https://t.co/GOepgGoQ43
