Calvin literally says the sacraments may be valid regardless of who or WHAT the administrator is, and says a demon could administer both the Supper and baptism. Beza says the same, that an unlawful minister doesn’t void sacramental acts

@kadenbc @bluegrasspresby @KenShepherd Calvin is clear that *unauthorized* women cannot administer baptism; he is quite clear that anyone hypothetically could if commissioned by the Church. That’s why both Calvin and Beza say that Satan could sit in the chair of and administer a valid baptism.

@kadenbc @bluegrasspresby @KenShepherd I’d be willing to bet Rutherford held the same stance as Calvin on this. If a women actually did recieve a calling from the Church, she would not be considered a “legitimate” minister, but she would not be seen as voiding the acts of the office itself
