@ehenes@redeemed_zoomer How does what you’re describing not constitute a corruption of discipline, rather than an utter un-churching of an entire body?
@DracoReformans@jamesfcubie@YouTube Could you just tell me how he was forced into silence, and would’ve become personally complicit in the sins of the modernists?
@kadenbc@bluegrasspresby Could you show me any counter-examples where Calvin says or hints that a female is metaphysically incapable of administering baptism without exception? Not just, “it’s unlawful,” or “irregular” or “contrary to nature…” but “metaphysically impossible”
@kadenbc@bluegrasspresby@KenShepherd The issue is what’s possible, not lawful. Calvin literally says the sacraments may be valid regardless of who or WHAT the administrator is, and says a demon could administer both the Supper and baptism. Beza says the same, that an unlawful minister doesn’t void sacramental acts
@kadenbc@bluegrasspresby@KenShepherd Calvin is clear that *unauthorized* women cannot administer baptism; he is quite clear that anyone hypothetically could if commissioned by the Church. That’s why both Calvin and Beza say that Satan could sit in the chair of and administer a valid baptism.
@kadenbc@bluegrasspresby@KenShepherd This says absolutely nothing about the hypothetical possibility of a women occupying the ministerial chair by ecclesial sanction. I 100% agree that women’s ordination and lay-baptism are wrong
@KenShepherd@kadenbc@bluegrasspresby Christ commanded the disciples to submit to the Pharisees. Many of them committed simony. The High Priest was chosen by the Roman state. We don’t submit to those who occupy the office; we submit to the office itself, insofar as they do not command us to sin
@kadenbc@bluegrasspresby@KenShepherd I’d be willing to bet Rutherford held the same stance as Calvin on this. If a women actually did recieve a calling from the Church, she would not be considered a “legitimate” minister, but she would not be seen as voiding the acts of the office itself
@Cripletriple3@ehenes@Heidelblog01 I’ve been trying to get him to admit this lol
If belonging to the PCUSA makes you schismatic then every single member of the PCUSA since 1936 is guilty of damnable sin
