Are we evolving to be more stupid? Humans have a relatively high genetic mutation rate, which has been thought to be driving down our physical and mental fitness – but columnist Michael Le Page finds these mutations aren’t the health risk some make them... https://t.co/ugqIdIyATl
@RAClements3@marcrileydj He chortled. “I hear he’s long winded”. Let me pursue my gushy defense for several minutes before informing me. Shared a red faced beer with him. Lovely, entertaining guy.
@RAClements3@marcrileydj I was a huge fan.Was standing next to him in the Green Tree in Edinburgh late eighties oblivious to his identity. Fan came up and started talking to him about the quality of Sci Fi at the time and they chatted. Know it all me butted-in and told them they should read Ian M Banks.
@TimMLatimer@coaks604 15 years ago there was no indication Tesla could make profit from EVs. Musk himself admits that his POS was low.
Often folks think that “fast follower” is a better approach. I’m sure you have a fair share nosing around your own tracks looking for that sort of opportunity.
@prchovanec The challenge this go around is that the circumstances leading to it are somewhat different. It may be much less temporary than prior shutdowns.
Some of the sunlight reaching Earth contains far more energy than we were expecting, and none of our theoretical models can explain why.

@DavisTodder@megynkelly Of course. No debate goes on academia. None. Everyone just nods sagely and defers.
Question: Have you ever visited planet earth?
@KHayhoe Definitely seems that there’s a large new wave of post-Elon Twitter engagement by those who do nothing but pour out splenic nonsense. I live in hope that they’ll tire of their endeavors as they never seem to accomplish much. But I have my doubts.
@LourinHubbard@RepDanCrenshaw@HouseCommerce The problem with those in Congress is that they are utterly unaware of how the world sees them. For right or wrong Shou looked young, vital, informed, engaged, adept, modern. Those “interrogating” him looked…not those things.
@ad1220 @lsdres @SenatorRomney My point was that the governments in those countries recognized the social obligation. Companies are structurally incapable of doing so.
@RepDanCrenshaw I can’t recall a single policy from the Thatcher government that I would characterize as compassionate. We were told to get on our bikes. We knew what was what.
@ad1220 @lsdres @SenatorRomney At some point they recognized the social obligation. Patients procure services typically when they are:
A) somewhat impaired and often scared
B) suffering from a massive knowledge gap with the provider
In this scenario it’s hard to believe that free markets are efficient.
@lsdres @ad1220@SenatorRomney Not really. Most countries have principle health insurance through public structures rather than private markets / employers. “Romneycare” gave public options for everyone and employer mandates but didn’t make a wholesale move of funding to the public sector.
