I write the Guardian's Politics Live blog - news from Westminster as it happens, with analysis, all the best quotes and key links to relevant blogs/sources
ANALYSIS: ‘We have time to make our case’: Labour insiders are confident Burnham can sell his social care reforms - including trade off of weakening triple lock pensions guarantee

NEW - Housing associations in England will be told they cannot decline to house homeless families without good reason.
Homelessness charities said the new powers were a “gamechanger” - signifying a shift towards greater state control over social housing

🧵 As front-page headlines go, this has to be one of the most misleading I've seen in a long time
It's an out-and-out lie
But notice the trick they use to get away with it...👀
*They're* not lying - they're just quoting someone else who is👍🏻
In this case, the leader of the opposition🙄
1/33
EXC - We *also* have an MRP out today - which has some very striking findings.
Progressives who vote tactically to stop Nigel Farage’s Reform UK could push his party into FOURTH place.
The poll also shows Burnham’s Labour is winning back left-leaning voters by two to one.
In a move that is likely to set off furious complaints from Nigel Farage’s party, the government will table amendments to legislation going through the House of Lords within weeks that puts the legality of Reform’s latest donations in doubt.

🚨We're back! @kiranstacey and I discuss:
Can Zack Polanski win Keir Starmer’s old seat? The inside track on whether local Green party will back him - and what it all means for Andy Burnham.
What does Nigel Farage need from his annual conference - with Reform slipping in the polls? And more!

“Reform UK has banned at least three journalists who have investigated the party and Nigel Farage from its annual conference, which begins on Thursday.
The Guardian’s City editor, Anna Isaac, the investigative reporter Peter Geoghegan and the broadcaster and biographer Michael Crick were told this week that their credentials to cover the event had been declined.
A Reform spokesperson said Geoghegan and Crick were refused accreditation because the party viewed them as minor figures. They declined to comment on why Isaac was not given accreditation.”

There is a magnificent profile of Andy Burnham, the UK’s next prime minister, in the Guardian.
Part one - written by @danielboffey - covers his earliest foray into politics and his journey to Westminster 👇

@bellacaledonia@jessicaelgot In the book they suggest getting rid of the whipping system altogether. But now Burnham is proposing whipping-lite - in particular, not suspending people who vote against gvt whip
NEW: My big cover story on ‘No 10’ North
• Aim to get it up and running “as quickly as possible”
• Plans to restructure No 10 more broadly
• FDA’s Dave Penman warns Burnham splitting his time could “cause restrictions” (“Him looking people in the eye is how things will actually happen”), casts doubt on staffing plans & says new PM is in “danger” of using Whitehall as “a term of abuse”
• How will Burnham travel? Will No 10 North have the authority needed? Is it taking devolution from MHCLG or risking duplication?
Includes thoughts from Labour MPs pro and anti, ex spad Luke Sullivan, @theobertram, @instituteforgov, @IPPRNorth & many others 👇
