@Txp_RBI_Xctuxl It's not even true that every penny they paid was spent the same day.
Every penny they paid had been spent years before: they were paying the interest on that debt.
@rbrharrison It wasn't the whole post-GFC UK productivity story that the ONS says it has debunked, just part of it.
Also, why is everyone just blithely assuming that the ONS has got it right *now*?! They're no more likely to be right now than they were before.
@Stephenmevans1@WalkerMarcus The term “discrimination”, as it is actually used, means an *immoral* practice of *unjust* discrimination. It is perfectly defensible to argue that decisions about Anglican appointments should only be made by Anglicans. Likewise, a Christian shouldn't appoint the Chief Rabbi.

I think that
“Healey say he won’s speculate on what will be in the government.”
was supposed to be
“Healey says he won't speculate on what will be in the Budget.”
@saikat2b@asymmetricinfo “The author extends the conclusion that funding on such research should stop.”
No he doesn't. He says studies that refuse to at least consider alternative hypotheses alongside SMST should not be funded because they poison the well.
@maxtempers It is worth noting that business robberies are better-reported than domestic robberies. Ordinary people are more likely to decide it's not worth reporting, but business owners have to report robberies to account for their stock. So real domestic robberies may have risen as well.
@CrownOfTrust@DefundIslam@lincslincs The government is not at all a banker in a monopoly game, because the currency is traded against other currencies and so printing more of it just means its value goes down. This is inflation.
@doktordunc @eliotranch Was that reason a fact that the interviewers told you themselves, or was it a self-serving lie she made up to make her rejection more palatable to herself and more sympathetic to others?
If the Arday case has any lesson, it is not to believe people's stories about themselves.
I know this isn’t a safe space in Burham’s Britain & I’m sorry but I love being from Manchester. I love the smiths, I love new order, I love the stone roses, I even love oasis. I wouldn’t have chosen to be born anywhere else. The home of the Industrial Revolution. What a city
@MMTLabour@garyseconomics@DanNeidle You are surely knowledgeable enough to know that there is not a free market for water provision in the UK. It is one of the most regulated sectors in the entire economy.
You're also smart enough to understand what “cherry-picking” is. The nationalised utilities were worse.
@smallStateUK@YouGov The difference merely means we would expect to see slightly fewer Americans take the small certain option. You can up the US percentage if you like. It's still directionally correct.
