@TheRealMitch@OnlyInBOS This is definitionally pro-democratic. More people voting for more candidates. We are the least competitive state in the country and this measure is designed to correct the curve.
@OnlyInBOS Two choices guaranteed is better than one choice in more than 2/3 of all generals. That happens because no one runs on the other side. Those elections deserve competition as well so that we can hold those electeds accountable!
@OnlyInBOS 70% of general elections in MA will have one candidate on the ballot this year. I would like to have two choices guaranteed even when no one runs from the other party. That is what competitive democracy looks like
@KevinHerreraKXH@OnlyInBOS I’m voting yes because we are the least competitive state in the country right now. This would guarantee we have competitive generals (75% of voters), not just competitive primaries (15% of voters). This BOOSTS fair representation, not eliminate.
@stevesgirl56@OnlyInBOS 70% of general elections this year in MA will have ONE candidate. This system guarantees that there will always be 2 names on the general ballot. That is what healthy democracy looks like.
@hankito@OnlyInBOS MAGA was the first group to oppose in MA. They are also spending millions to get this system overturned in LA and AK. This by no means empowers MAGA.
@lalukeasigue Much of this re Question 3 is simply not correct. Party affiliation and endorsements will be printed on the ballot itself - the opposite of hiding. Also, how can more Republicans ‘sneak through to the general’ in an APP when they’re currently guaranteed a spot regardless of vote.
@emrey35@PollTracker2024 Care to explain what you mean by this? And any evidence you have to support it? *All Party Primaries have been a big success in CA and WA despite what pro-status quo fearmongering may have you believe.
@luxeprogressive@longislandindie@CLynn724@electionsjoe This is a very close-minded view of elections. As a progressive myself, more people voting is the central tenet of my progressive beliefs. MA has the least competitive elections in the country and is the least effective state gov to boot. If that isn’t an ‘us’ problem Idk what is
@electionsjoe This is a fantastic system that will revitalize MA’s competitive democracy. Really wish you wouldn’t use your platform to fear monger around a good faith electoral reform effort without any data to back up your skepticism.
