Better than Trump is NOT a sufficient criterion for our next President. The distance between better than Trump and what we need is huge. People need to begin preparing now for how they will advocate for a justice, reform, and equality in a Biden administration.
The two most egregious misuses of religion--religion as (mere) marker of group identity and as (mere) tool in the hands of the powerful--are two main causes of secularization because they empty faith of its moral content and use it to achieve goals contrary to faith's character.
I do not say this lightly or hastily but with fear & trembling after much deliberation. I think we are experiencing a divine reckoning in America. I don’t think the reckoning is over our having simply sinned. I think it’s over the fact that we have used God & the Bible to do it.
