Mookie Betts is just different.

Asked why he is retooled his training regimen with @DrivelineBB and @Tstokey this offseason, he said his 2021 and 2022 seasons were "trash."

J.D. Martinez told me this a few years ago about Betts, when Betts was en route to winning the 2018 AL MVP following his first swing overhaul:

"I have this little theory. When I think about the best players, I think what makes people so good is when they have that insecurity about themselves because they don't want to fall off. It keeps them working. I feel like (Mookie Betts) had that little doubt. Other guys have good years and they won't make the change. He was like, 'Dude, I have to figure this out. I don't have it figured out.'"
