@sainsburys The new click & collect system in Stirling is terrible. It takes about 10 mins for each car's shopping to be brought to them. I'd be quicker doing the shopping myself. Any chance they could go back to using the vans like they used to?
Gavin Collins was an off-duty police officer enjoying a night out in central London when he was attacked by a pair of thugs. They repeatedly punched and kicked him, even after he’d been floored. Gavin needed titanium plates in his cheek and one eye socket following the unprovoked attack.
One of the attackers had three previous convictions for similar offences of common assault in the previous three years. As it happened the thugs were brothers, and the sons of one of Britain’s richest property tycoons.
But they were in luck. When they eventually appeared before Recorder Christopher Hehir in Southwark Crown Court, the judge was in a forgiving mood. The thugs were given suspended sentences—one of 15 months and one of six months.
Fast forward to last week when the same judge had to consider a different kind of case involving two young women who did not attack anyone, but did throw a can of soup at a painting by Vincent Van Gogh.
No one needed surgery. The picture frame was moderately affected because—fun fact—tomato soup is apparently “slightly acidic”. But His Honour Christopher Hehir reacted very differently, jailing one young woman for more than two years and the other for 20 months.
Conservative MP Tom Hunt fails to get valid ID for election day and is left unable to cast his own vote by the same voter ID laws he had voted for three years ago, then asks one of his local party members to vote for him (2024)
@MrMcEnaney Lived in Bilbao 8 years ago and had a single travel card for tram, train, metro and bus. Visited Germany about 13 years ago and used a bottle return machine. Embarrassing we can't get these things up and running.
@crossgatescynic So it's only a matter of time before most teams have one and save thousands of pounds in groundsmen's wages, the SPFL reverses its decision, and teams in the EPL start introducing them? Seems logical if they're just as good as grass.
@crossgatescynic The fact they cause injuries and they give an advantage to home teams who are used to playing on them. None of the top leagues have them, because they're second rate.
@MrMcEnaney@heraldscotland Can't understand why the target for social subjects teachers is high and also not being met. I've never known a school to struggle getting a probationer, dozens of applicants for jobs and teachers floating for years in temporary positions.
@AgentScotland Are there any clubs who have a similar budget and quality of domestic league who have a much better record? Which teams should we be matching at that level? Maybe Scandinavian clubs or Eastern Europe?
@crossgatescynic We did it once in February and it was bitter. Clair nearly fainted when she got out because the blood rushed back to her head. It was about 5°. I wouldn't when outside temperature is less than 10°, and some people use rule of halving the temperature to give your max time (5 mins)
