@gtconway3d Because - and this is just too meta - like those Nazi generals, they just do what they’re told.

[Michael McDonald All Backing Vocals Tour @andy_sneed]

@elonmusk “Turns out the president can’t repeal laws!”

[Michael McDonald All Backing Vocals Tour @andy_sneed]

@Ojeda4America I can’t tell if this is real or a joke

[Michael McDonald All Backing Vocals Tour @andy_sneed]

@lxeagle17 @fawfulfan Yeah gonna Occam’s razor this one: Dems are genuinely happy and energized about Harris being the candidate. No coup nonsense, she’s the VP ergo natural next-in-line, a more complicated process would have lost valuable time and would have been very risky.

[David Frum @davidfrum]

Why don't Republican negative points vs Harris-Walz - some of them even approximately true! - do more damage?

The problem Republicans have is that every election is a compare and contrast. And they overwhelmingly renominated a candidate who ...

entered politics by propagandizing a defamatory "birther" conspiracy theory that was not only steeped in racism but also obviously crazy and stupid https://t.co/xt8bonSfWR ....

accepted the help of Russian spy agencies to win the presidency in 2016 ... https://t.co/pqBKkF0hmr

directed tens of millions of taxpayer and foreign government $ to his own businesses ... https://t.co/LcQUjHBNfe

ordered a religious test on immigrants and visitors to the United States - rewrote it three times until a friendly Supreme Court disgraced the country by inscribing the rewritten ban into law ... https://t.co/wFm5hmLDo3.

tried (and failed) to overturn healthcare coverage for Americans with no alternative to offer - but succeeded in overturning abortion rights for Americans ...

funded his tax cuts with tax increases targeted to punish voters in Democratic-led states ... https://t.co/mnMpu7kUlD

started trade wars not only with China, but against friends like the European Union, Canada, Japan, and South Korea. He encouraged close ally Britain to exit the EU - then refused Britain the US-UK trade treaty he'd promised ... https://t.co/KajY9ZvA5v

as his anti-China trade war rapidly proved a costly fiasco https://t.co/TQmDCZCaCf, then connived in the Chinese cover-up of the deadly COVID outbreak through the pandemic's crucial early weeks ... https://t.co/p8kVTLDZGr

then to compensate for his own prior negligence, promoted quack remedies that harmed gullible people - and that later enabled cranks and charlatans to spread panic about the anti-COVID vaccines that actually could and did save lives .... https://t.co/83XdgaxnSm

made deals with Putin that he concealed from his own national security team ... https://t.co/QVrPECuYNG

and blackmailed Ukraine, denying that democracy weapons unless it fabricated political dirt against his expected election opponent ...

and was only barely dissuaded from quitting NATO altogether according to his own highest aides ... https://t.co/70rRPKu0EL

mocked and defamed America's most honored war dead https://t.co/9m0Z3uE2ta and their grieving families ... https://t.co/wP3NhSKZna

abused his office to harass perceived corporate enemies like TimeWarner https://t.co/OeEcmMhXUs and Amazon https://t.co/1dWhb6ttWi

broke the law to incite harm against whistleblowers who revealed his corrupt actions ... https://t.co/sBKvxE2YCy

tried to win the 2020 election by an elaborate scheme to deny ballots to Democratic voters .... https://t.co/v1QC7lLSx8

encouraged supporters to intimidate election workers who wouldn't comply with his schemes ... https://t.co/Stp7WnXgTR

then organized a conspiracy to overturn the lawful result ... https://t.co/dPUU14rp1f

and when that failed, turned to outright violence on January 6, 2021 ...

stole ultra-classified government documents on his way out the door, including nuclear secrets - which he later showed to paying customers at Mar a Lago, including foreign nationals. https://t.co/MzFNnFcYpP

Politics aside, the nominee is also a draft-dodger https://t.co/p5Yu5XR6Id, and lifelong deadbeat https://t.co/fYJE2p4LVt, tax cheat https://t.co/5sSAgJDM9B, fraudster https://t.co/261Znbxf8P, and confessed serial sex abuser https://t.co/09nWPM5f8V.

In that environment, its tough to get a hearing for negatives about a nominee's opponents.

[Joe Bernstein @Bernstein]

Wow, she really picked Tim from Minnesota.

[Tim Duffy™ @TimDuffy]

Finally, someone who might’ve seen Hüsker Dü live in the White House.

[Michael McDonald All Backing Vocals Tour @andy_sneed]

@timburchett Yeah, it’s unreal that y’all refused to pass bipartisan legislation to address these issues because you don’t want to solve it - you just want to keep up the complaining and fear-mongering.

[Michael McDonald All Backing Vocals Tour @andy_sneed]

@timburchett Unbelievable that someone faces legal consequences for their actions?

Also, I note that I never see you reply to actual questions or critiques, only the ugly ad hominem stuff.

[CONSEQUENCE @consequence]

All four members of R.E.M. reunited for their first television interview in 30 years ahead of their induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame later this evening.

[Michael McDonald All Backing Vocals Tour @andy_sneed]

@timburchett This doesn’t even make any sense. What we need are congressional reps who work on actual things that matter.

[Michael McDonald All Backing Vocals Tour @andy_sneed]

@gtconway3d It’s insane

[Michael McDonald All Backing Vocals Tour @andy_sneed]

@SpeakerJohnson The jurors aren’t politicians - but you are. You’re the only one making a political statement. The jurors just did their civic duty.

[Michael McDonald All Backing Vocals Tour @andy_sneed]

@timburchett One where there are actual news sources that print stories that have been vetted, provide context, etc.

[Michael McDonald All Backing Vocals Tour @andy_sneed]

@Jesse_Brenneman @daveweigel And also it’s dumb.

[Elie Mystal @ElieNYC]

I so wish somebody would ask Alito this.

[Michael McDonald All Backing Vocals Tour @andy_sneed]

@thejeffbarbra “I’m’a rare back and tell you somethin’” 🔥

[Michael McDonald All Backing Vocals Tour @andy_sneed]

@thejeffbarbra @JasonZacharyTN @amandafortn It seems to me the appropriate response to this is, “oh sorry Mr. speaker, I knew he was smug. I didn’t know he was also a fragile flower. “
