I’ve launched an online course that teaches you everything you need to plan, record and produce your own academic podcast.
I focus on using free and low cost tools and giving learners the hands-on skills to do things for themselves. https://t.co/4AMl32yT3m #phdchat#SciComm 1/4
A rare post from me on this platform and a nudge to universities, funders and other academic organisations remaining on X that you should seriously consider a tactical withdrawal from here.
AcademicX #PhdChat#Academia
Academic activity on #X continues to fall, and #Bluesky continues to eat into X’s share of social media.
But UK universities are still reluctant to cut ties with X altogether.

@bmlto@LSEblogs@LSEImpactBlog Thanks, hadn't got Liverpool - so that makes 6 who have formally announced their departure here and 8 who have ceased activity
Back here to post my piece about UK universities and X
UK Universities are reluctant to break a toxic social media relationship
Which universities are still posting here and where they've gone to.
Please share with any academic communication teams.

Since 2009, we’ve used this account to share University updates, highlight research stories, and connect with the Leeds community far and wide.
However, in recent years - like many others - we’ve experienced a huge drop in engagement due to developments on the platform.
@delaevanio @BatesonCentre @ShefUni_ClinMed I envisage Bluesky will have problems, it already does now with bots, but it's not running wild like this place and the tools to combat the problems X has are better over elsewhere.
@delaevanio @BatesonCentre @ShefUni_ClinMed I think most delete their accounts, and some make a point (as I have done) to state they have left but are leaving it as a marker to where they are now. I will ultimately delete mine.
New year's resolution piece I wrote for the @LSEImpactBlog 4 years ago on let’s do institutional academic social media better.
All points stand, notably the last one: "Maintain your Reputation"
So with that - I encourage academic orgs to get off @X now. https://t.co/B9hqyyRC45
There are lots of podcasts out there but with this course you'll produce one that sounds better than most. Academia is still dipping its toe into podcasts, so it's a great opportunity to use master this fabulous medium to share your research, ideas & teaching with the world. 3/3
Pretty much the last post from me here.

It's suitable for students, PGRs, professionals and academics. You do not need any previous experience and it teaches you the very basics from starting your podcast from scratch, with recording, producing, editing and hosting tutorials. 2/3
