A "one man Sheffield tourist board". into: dad things, tasty food/beer, photography, ip connectivity, travel, cricket, parkrun. work: CTO at @ask4internet
@dtemkin EQB is a more fair price comparison to the Tesla Y. As someone who’s driven the EQB 350 AMG for over two years, I would agree with you that the Mercedes is more luxurious and more fun.
@kelly_tengi@EastMidRailway It’s also incorrect: it’s much faster to travel to Grantham on LNER (via Chesterfield tickets permitted to Grantham but no further north) and swap to EMids train from Grantham to Sheffield. But I decided to buy a new ticket via Donny anyway and will go back to driving to London).
@EastMidRailway Hello, can return portions of St Pancras to Sheffield “via Chesterfield” open return tickets be used to travel on other operators eg LNER today because of the engineering works?
@DrPeering@AMS_IX@netnod It’s an awful idea, my only regret is that I am not connected to amsix in order to facilitate a protest disconnection. It’s called cross-ix because it makes me cross. We’re choosing to make the internet non-resilient and garbage. :(
Reading “Beyond Everywhere” by @ennisgregory. I realise that this beautiful paragraph about a chance hallway encounter at an IEEE meeting describes the start of many of my important business and personal relationships, only at RIPE, UKNOF, NANOG, Peering fora, and IXP meetings!
@JBizzle703@ETH4N3T And if you take the time to learn a templating engine and scripting language you can very rapidly repeat this mistake but much faster and with a much larger blast surface area. 😇
@khakparaghi Interconnected IXPs are an absolutely awful idea: smaller, local, distributed, disconnected ixps are better for encouraging nearest exit routing (therefore performance) and for reducing the size of blast surface during a system failure.
Question for those who know the North East of England better than I do. What’s fun for kids, South of Gateshead, North of York, and not something I can do in/around Sheffield? I was thinking Diggerland but am not a theme park lover & they’re rubbish with one year olds. Any tips?
@anurag_bhatia @tcsweetser Since propagation of 5G in the 3GHz band is so poor from outdoor to indoor, it’s pointless assuming it will work any better for cellular operators at 6GHz. Wi-Fi makes much more sense for this band.
@AntonKarneliuk Hi, are your slides from your netLdn talk online? May I see a copy if not? The subject is a regular topic of conversation at ASK4. Maybe we can bump into each other at a future Netops event to discuss how we use a similar stack to assure wireless experience.
