For hundreds of years, Jewish people have been the victims of horrific violence. That historic backdrop of pain and trauma does not justify the crushing apartheid policies they’ve imposed on Gaza and the West Bank for over 50 years… but it does help explain it.
For decades the Palestinians have endured daily doses of terror, discrimination and abuse from the State of Israel. That does not by any means justify the violence of Hamas… but it does help explain it.
The current violence of both Hamas and the State of Israel create the conditions for more violence, adding fuel to an already combustible fire.
For many people the evil we are seeing daily by both the State of Israel and Hamas makes more killing justifiable. But violence only leads to more violence. Hatred begets more hatred. We cannot build a better future by killing each other’s families.
Jesus was right - if we live by the sword we die by the sword. Violence is a dead end. Love is the only way forward, even the audacious love for our enemies.
Love requires treating the person on the other side of the wall as nothing short of sacred, a child of God made in the image of God.
Killing babies is terrorism, whether it is done with bombs or with guns or knives - it is evil. Violence is always evil, no matter what flag it’s wrapped up in. Let us continue to work for peace… and do all we can to interrupt the war… and grieve every life lost… and commit ourselves to building a world where every person is sacred.
Surprised to see the 9th commandment being thrown around so much by the CN apologists.
I was under the impression they’d never read that far down the list.
We want to get equal rights as everyone else even as @itamarbengvir . We don’t want more than anyone else.
He was honest with his racism, he exposed the Israeli Jewish supremacy from the river to the sea.
Palestinian refugees from 1948, became refugees again in 2023.
The families had to leave their homes again to escape the the Israel military raid in Jenin camp.
Stop the war on #Jenin civilians.
The man on the left raised his fist in solidarity with peaceful protestors who came to condemn gun violence—GOP expelled him.
The man on the right raised his fist in solidarity with violent insurrectionists who came to overthrow democracy—GOP embraced him.
This IS who GOP is.
To promote human rights, we must create space for diverse voices to be heard. The Palestinian perspective is essential and often missing or misrepresented. It's time to ensure they are heard from their own voices.
When leading Republicans argue “This is an attack on our country…and attack on our free and fair elections.” (Trump), “weaponization of our legal system” (DeSantis) and does “irreparable damage” to our country…that’s a projection of their own roles not a reflection of the facts
Under Apartheid Israel, this is how Palestinians living in the West Bank go to Jerusalem, Israeli Colonial Settlers can whiz through the 3-lane road to the left. In most cases, Palestinian men under the age of 40 are not allowed in.
Israeli settlers burnt a Palestinian house north of Ramallah city by throwing Molotov cocktails, the family with children were miraculously survived.
For sure no one will be accountable, and the attacker will be a Parliament member in Israeli in few years.
It is @Israel apartheid.
I spent last week with 150 other self-described "Post Evangelical" pastors, leaders and artists.
We ate and drank, laughed and cried, sang and shared communion, and had too many wonderful conversations to count. We shared what it's been like to be kicked out of…
@separateunion @laurchastain22 @quackitude I don't have a problem with doing good things for others. But it's never just for THEIR sake, but always for an agenda, to get them to listen to us & open up to us.
Always an ulterior motive. Like getting a "free weekend" at a resort but you gotta listen to a 4 hour sales pitch.
"Better is one day in the company of those bullied by Christians but loved by Jesus than thousands in the company of those wielding Scripture to harm the weak and defenseless." - David Gushee
Israeli forces shot & killed 2 Palestinian children today—Mahdi, 17, outside Ramallah, and Adel, 14, by the wall near Qalqilya. 25 Palestinian children in the West Bank have been killed by Israeli forces or settlers this year.
Absolutely no one has been held accountable. Zero.
