@IainGAnderson@HemaJaradah@CWGC@Volksbund Hi Ian, is that Heisker Island by any chance? Think I remember some great stuff in the @CWGC archive about the difficulties in marking and maintaining those graves. Great to see the effort that still goes in to looking after them.
My blog, based on @Prize_Papers from neutral ships (now online). It pieces together the unlikely story of the Irishman and Tenerife resident, William Farrell. Failed commercial ventures, duelling, at death's door twice in two years - his story has it all.

It's time for our annual Christmas with Mark Connelly episode!
This month(/year) we're hearing about his new #FWW book 'Postcards from the Western Front' and discuss who owns the battlefields, what happens when you try and visit them, and which groups probably shouldn't mix.
Christmas as we know it was a mid-Victorian invention. So what came before?

The UK's captured Luftwaffe 'war prizes' were displayed at RAE Farnborough in the Autumn of 1945. Some, but not all, are shown in this image, however the 'ghostly' Heinkel He 219 Uhu (Eagle-Owl) really stands out in the foreground.
Great day at @AvroHeriMuseum - some amazing pieces of aviation history, and incredibly knowledgeable and enthusiastic volunteers. Also took the opportunity to pay a visit to the graves of Roy Chadwick, Sidney “Bill” Thorn and David Wilson in nearby Christ Church, Woodford
Heartbroken. The lives of several aviators and two pieces of aviation history have been lost in the skies over Dallas today. The P-63 King Cobra collided with the B-17 Flying Fortress during the Wings Over Dallas airshow, destroying both planes. Neither aircrew survived.
