SvelteKit 3 is a wonder. Congrats to the team. So excited for Async Svelte & Remote Functions to cook.
I built a tiny app, it built & deployed in 15 seconds end-to-end, it’s instant, and fx + opus figured it all out effortlessly.

A huge THANK YOU to the 33 national federations who voted for me in the recent FIDE VP elections.
You did not vote for a ticket, a transaction, or a convenient alignment. You chose substance over calculation. You voted for a candidate who puts principles above any offered and pre-arranged position.
That is rarer than a Council seat, and more valuable.
In a crowded field for four (4) elected Vice Presidencies, that choice carried a cost. I know it. I respect it. And I will never forget that 1 out of 6 national federations supported my choice, rejecting any directed or enforced "vote blocks".
I am happy that some of the principles I put on the table in the last two years became mainstream and picked up by other tickets and candidates:
* FIDE should not act as a 1-country entity.
* FIDE's owners are its national federations.
* FIDE's owners should receive an annual dividend.
I am aware that the above are not implemented (yet), but starting the conversation and a growing support for them is a good start.
As I said before the elections, there are no winners and no losers after the 26th of September: we all still have to work together for promoting our sport and growing the chess ecosystem.
I remain committed to that.
Thank you for your trust!
I have said publicly that I support the direction of the Buettner/Pein platform. You should always know where a candidate stands.
Nevertheless, my candidacy is independent and nominated by five (5) member federations.
National federations are the effective owners of FIDE and this stems not only from the FIDE Charter.
Anyone can create another “FIDE” chess organisation, with a similar name, in another jurisdiction, but it would have minimal value.
What makes our FIDE valuable is precisely its 204 member federations.
They have gifted FIDE a global network across every market and culture, a rating database with over half a million registered players and the institutional backing that enabled FIDE to be recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
Despite all of this, no systematic share of FIDE's revenue reaches the National Federations.
Among the three Presidential candidates, the Buettner/Pein ticket proposes a 20% revenue share.
It is something I fully agree with.
I appreciate that now other candidates are also addressing the national federations as beneficial owners of FIDE.
From my side, there would be no winners and no losers on the 27th of September.
Whichever ticket and Council members the FIDE GA elects, we all have to work with each other constructively. From my side, I am committed 100% to this.

Introducing Adapt-1 Machina: Learning Continuous Control Sequences
With Adapt-1 Machina, we explore how continuous sequences of machine controls can be learned through reinforcement learning, starting with coarse outcome feedback and without demonstrations or a critic.
The ultimate freedom is matching your convictions with your currency. No one else should own your voice.
I am paying for this election campaign myself. No third-party money. No government veto over the policies I support.
An independent, energetic and resourceful Vice President can bring a great deal of positive change. Ideas that have worked elsewhere, measured results, and policies that serve FIDE’s Beneficial Owners: its National Chess Federations.
I am asking for your vote for one of the four elected Vice Presidencies. On 26 September, make that seat your voice in the FIDE Council.

It was fun to give a live demo of @fin_ai Voice alongside @destraynor at #dreamforce, as part of the SMB Keynote with @adamjcalfano.
This was a real demo of Fin Voice, no smoke and mirrors. If you're at Dreamforce, drop by our booth to try it out for yourself: #101 in The Campground, Moscone South.
You can watch the video here (Des starts at 28:00):

Did you know that zero-knowledge proofs have fascinating applications outside of blockchain? 🤔
Let's go over some:
☢️Imagine two countries sit down to dismantle a nuclear warhead. Each needs to confirm the other is destroying a real one rather than a decoy. Neither will allow an inspection, because the design of the thing is the secret they're protecting.
Princeton researchers published a protocol in Nature (https://t.co/JAu6OgK7WL) for exactly this. It confirms a warhead matches a known authentic template while revealing nothing whatsoever about what's inside it.
And of course, there are many more examples past crypto:
🪪 Government ID
Europe's digital identity wallet is rolling out with zero-knowledge techniques built in, so a check can confirm the one fact it needs about you without the verifier collecting everything else printed on the document.
📷 Journalism
Confirming a published photograph came from a real camera, and was edited only in ways anyone can check, without the newsroom handing over the original file (that's what Brevis Vera does).
🤖 AI
Confirming that the model which answered you is the one you paid for, and that it ran the way it claims. Early, and moving quickly.
Underneath all of it sits the same problem. Somebody has to be convinced of one specific thing, and the evidence itself is the part that can't be handed over.
I will miss this year’s FIDE Congress; there is a lot of work with the ECU running and new projects, and I also need to take a breath. Regarding the FIDE elections, I have only one personal proposal. There are about 20 independent candidates for FIDE Vice Presidents, among them many remarkable candidates (in my opinion) whom I could second, but I am not trying to get involved in the whole thing.
George and I have been friends for about 40 years, since we played in national and international chess events as juniors. He knows FIDE matters very well, he is completely independent in judging any situation, and he cannot be influenced by any power (neither me 📷.)
If you are a delegate take consideration of this candidacy.

Ember 1.0 came out on Aug 31, 2013, exactly 13 years ago.
I didn't mean to time it that way, but today is the day I'm making "Rock and Roll with Ember" free:

@zachmoskow@Kali_laur3n@stripe it looks like stripe indeed works this way. You are aupposed to be able to prevent this (and make the banks liable) by requiring 3d secure (should be some setting in stripe)
