@samhailes I think about this a lot. Another annoyance I have is the cascading of overused and therefore mawkish adjectives in a sermon. ‘Following Jesus is a radical, wild, beautiful adventure.’ What’s dopa-mine is dopa-yours, they might as well say.
If you’re looking for some great Christmas reading over the holidays I can highly recommend this from @andykindcomedy - such a well told, funny and ultimately beautiful story of walking towards healing.
If we continue to use politics as spiritual methadone, we’ll find ourselves riding away on whatever cultural movement tickles our sense of self, says Andy Kind

74. A very, very funny, but also moving story of comedian Andy Kind’s @andykindcomedy hike up the Pennine Way. Parodying the genre it clearly loves without mocking it, the book has remarkable depth and insight into both the soul and the ways of other people. Highly recommended.

This week I’m hugely enjoying reading @andykindcomedy Andy Kind’s new book “The Wayfarer”. It’s funny, heartfelt, engaging, and really well written. A mix of bio + travelogue + humour + a tale of redemption. Hugely recommended! https://t.co/Q7fbceBUo3

It’s not always a solid argument that wins a heart to Christ but, increasingly, an encounter with something far more transcendent. Let’s get rid of the moss and bring on the beauty, says Andy Kind https://t.co/vUO0IPyQqx @andykindcomedy
