I was in the royal hospital Liverpool for a week with near burst appendix. I'm 40 at this point..white lad, next to me same age mixed race Scouser - Liverpool is different we really don't see race (Scouse first everything else is second) most in my generation have genuinely mixed friend groups.

When an old school black Scouser in his 70s was wheeled into the mixed male ward.

Opposite us is a mentally ill Irish man under 24 hour watch by a nurse (Ghanian) and a middle eastern man with 2 female relatives in full niqabs.

The hatred was palpable - this led to me having a week of education from the mixed race Scouser who had also grown up in toxteth about the current and growing racial tensions between newcomers in Liverpool 8 (toxteth)

Researched 2026/27 UK tax rates (frozen bands, NI 8%/2%, corp 19-25%, div tax up to 39.35%, CGT 18/24%, SDRT 0.5%).

Comparison (effective rates):

1. Cleaner £27k: 15%
2. Median £39k: 19%
3. High earner £150k+ (salary+div): ~32%
4. Ultra £500k+ (base+CG+div): ~37%
5. Ultra-rich dividends: Corp tax + div tax = ~50-55% total effective on profits.

Wealthy pay significantly more due to layered taxes on companies, income, gains and assets.

Now all the other taxes Vat - 20% spend more, pay more, stamp duty spend more pay more.

Give me examples where a rich individual pays less tax?

Grew up in London - had to go 3 miles to get a Citibank job with fuck all personal risk..

Here's me on knowsley with the worst possible life outcome of all boroughs in the UK - paying £4400 council tax for the privilege (£8k after tax)

No fucking services - not even a 6th form.

To make money to pay that I've had to take risks that 99.99% of the population would vomit at.. guarantees on the family home to the bank at age 28. Secondary loans on the wife's car. 5 credit card at 23 in 1999 at £13k, charges on my parents business..

All too fund a series of businesses that didn't always work...

None of this has come for free, it's come at great personal cost for me and my family..

I was grey and had a heart complaint at 38..... I've had probably 2-3 mental breakdowns. One business led to the death of a business partner. Stress kills, business causes stress like nothing else. One of my sons didn't know me at all till he was 11... I was at work when he was growing up.

But you know what I might , just might be able to retire at 55...

1. An office cleaner in London
2. An average office worker on median wage
3. A very high earner who makes base + bonuses and can claim some of their income as dividends
4. An ultra-high earner making base plus capital gains and dividends
5. An ultra-rich person who makes money mainly from dividends but also pays capital gains and stamp duty. In this example share the corresponding corporation tax paid in order for them to receive the dividends.

Think longer and do real research. In each example share the effective tax rate and the total taxes paid. Use real data and real tax rates for the UK.
