The story of a promiscuous enzyme (ProA) that wants to evolve its cell (E. coli) a new function. Only after generations of tinkering does ProA realize it can’t do it on its own; it needs a little help from its friends (ArgB/CarB). Now playing everywhere. https://t.co/U9Mln95xLW
This is the most exciting update yet. We’ve been writing polarizing things (and eliciting ideas from friends and family) for months. Special thanks to everyone who contributed!

@dandrezner "I'm willing to defer to the changing consensus produced by the scientific method and the truth production regime of education, peer review, etc., in lieu of the alternatives" -- is my bumper sticker.
So much to break down with this scene (Note that this occurs a mere 8 days after first infection). They got a crystal structure of the critical viral entry protein complexed with the mammalian host cell membrane-bound protein IN JUST 8 DAYS?!?!?
@HarrisonStamell Because getting the structure helps inform on the mechanism by which the virus enters the cell, thus allowing scientists to better design drugs that may prevent infection! Also to understand what mutations in the virus may change viral infection (v relevant rn) 6/n
