Over 90% of addiction happens before the age of 25. Up to this age, the youth’s brain is still developing and is very susceptible to addiction. This is why the age restriction for cigarette sales should not be reduced to 18y.o. #VetoTheVapeBill
@HealthJusticePH The REAL question here is, why won't the government hold conventional cigarettes to the same standard? There should be no tobacco or any form of nicotine for under-21s.
There is also growing evidence of the harmful effects of using vapes both to the user and those exposed to its emissions, including its potential to cause cardiovascular diseases, respiratory problems and explosion injuries. #VetoTheVapeBill
The Philippines is a party to the @WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control and we must stay true to a common regional and global health agenda. More than 45 countries, including six ASEAN countries have already banned ESDs.
#VetoTheVapeBill
Vape liquids and its emission contain chemicals such as nicotine, propylene glycol, carbonyls, and carbon monoxide that are either addictive, toxic or can cause cancer.
#VetoTheVapeBill
The Vape Bill is anti-health, anti-youth, and anti-Filipino. It is a regressive bill that puts profits above the lives of the Filipino people. Let us heed our Department of Health, Department of Education, and our medical community and reject this bill.

1/2 According to the Global Youth Tobacco Survey, 14.1% of Filipino youth are currently using e-cigarettes and 10% are active smokers. The Vape Bill is a disservice to the health and future of the Filipino youth.

Using products with nicotine under age 25 can harm the part of the brain responsible for memory and attention. Following the evidences, succeeding laws must push for the increase of the age restriction, not reduce it.

Given the fact that e-cigarette vapor is inhaled and enters our bloodstream and lungs, it is only right that FDA retain this responsibility.

Fruity and fun vape flavors are used to target #children and teens. The Vape Bill, if approved, hinders our journey towards a tobacco-free generation but will instead facilitate the creation of a new generation that is addicted to nicotine.
#VetoTheVapeBill
With the availability of kid-friendly flavors on unregulated online platforms, it will be easier for the tobacco industry to entice the youth to try these toxic products.

We need to protect our Filipino youth! The DOH emphasized that vapor products “are harmful and not risk-free and should be regulated as health products” becauase that are either addictive, toxic or can cause cancer.
#VetoTheVapeBill
It is the duty and mandate of the FDA to prioritize public health, not the interests of tobacco industry, in drafting laws and regulations. FDA should lead the regulation of vape or e-cigarette products, not the DTI. #VetoTheVapeBill
Under existing law, the sale and use of vapes and HTPs are regulated by FDA and not DTI. Let us uphold the mandate of the DOH and FDA in protecting the health of the Filipinos, particularly the youth.
