What if the next time someone said "wouldn't it be great if someone did something about that", they felt called and empowered to be that someone? That's what @Pollinationproj is all about. We all have a gift to offer the🌎. What is yours & what's holding you back? My interview.
This Wednesday’s episode will be a conversation with the founder of the The Pollination Project gives seed funding to grassroots volunteers #CharityMattersPodcast
📣 BREAKING: @USDA is awarding @TuftsUniversity $10M to establish the National Institute for Cellular Agriculture: a flagship American cultivated protein research center of excellence 🇺🇸🧫
Representatives @rosadelauro & @RepKClark joined us in celebrating this milestone:
@EnvDefenseFund How does EDF suggest the USA address its methane emissions given that animal agricultural is a bigger emitter than oil and gas? Doesn't "sustainable meat" feel like a clean coal solution during a code red for the planet?

~90% of the $540bn in global subsidies given to farmers every year are harmful and will render vast expanses of healthy land useless. By 2050, the loss of this land will make it impossible to feed the global population

@GretaThunberg Agreed. And for that same reason maybe we should adjust the timeframe we measure the impact of GGEs downward from 100 years to 20 years? That way we may properly prioritize addressing methane, and thus animal agriculture, and its enormous contribution to climate change.
🐟🐬🐢 DYK the commercial fishing industry is not only horrible for the environment, but animal cruelty on a massive scale, too? 💔
We can all extend our compassion to aquatic animals by choosing more plant-based foods!
@TobiasLeenaert Wow, this is huge news! My home country is going to soon fall behind as other governments realize that acknowledging its code red for humanity on climate change requires a major transformation in how we get our protein.
"Most species fare much better if habitats are left intact,which means reducing the space needed for farming."🤔 Someone tell the author alternative proteins require 90% less land than animal protein

The difference between EU and US agriculture policy in two tweets:
@Food_EU celebrates #WorldAnimalDay with farm animal welfare legislation.
@USDA celebrates new subsidies for chicken slaughterhouses.
Farmfree food will allow us to hand back vast areas of land+sea to nature, permitting rewilding & carbon drawdown on a massive scale. It’s our best hope of stopping the sixth great extinction and, if done right, means cheap and abundant food for everyone.

1 in 3 Americans experienced a climate disaster this summer. The #climatecrisis is spiraling. But what if I told you climate advocates are missing the highest impact scalable climate solution outside of energy? Hear us out. A🧵1/7

Most critical visions of cellular agriculture are dystopian: unaccountable corporate giants force-feeding a captive population with fake meat. Ironically, that describes the food system we already have.

We need climate policy to apply the clean-energy playbook to alternative-meat production. If we do that successfully,we can save more emissions than ending the use of coal globally

@anandrg@BruceGFriedrich "we need the climate community to apply the clean-energy playbook to alternative-meat production. If we do that successfully, we can save more emissions than ending the use of coal globally". Powerful op/ed. Let's get this out to policy makers and enviros!
The turnout for yesterday's Barn Brunch was AMAZING! It was so good to see a mix of friends old & new--& so many little kiddos! It’s so important for kids to know where their food comes from, to get the chance to meet the dogs, nose to nose, & learn about the circle of life. 🥰
@UNEP@ILRI Strange that you emphasized in this report that two of the seven major causes of zoonoses were increased demand for meat and the intensification of factory farms; yet none of your 10 policy recommendations involved reducing meat production. Your silence is deafening.
The idea that we have taken a national park, Pt. Reyes, and degraded it to make it a worse place for communities of colors is shocking. Where is environmental justice in this reality?
@SecDebHaaland@JaredHuffman@Interior

@SenateAgDems@SenStabenow If you are really looking for climate smart agricultural then supplanting reliance on CAFOs for cheap meat with alternative proteins is the only option that scales up globally (and, BTW, we'll free up an area larger than Africa for rewilding)

Despite being one of the largest contributors to climate change, animal agriculture is not on the #COP26 agenda as a priority in climate change mitigation discussions. Stop ignoring #TheCowInTheRoom.

@anandrg@BruceGFriedrich Darn right you are! 1/3 of the world's arable land produces just 18% of calories in the form of animal protein, which is the #1 cause of biodiversity loss & 80% of all deforestation. Hopefully @JeffBezos and
@BloombergDotOrg will prioritize addressing.
