6A state baseball semifinal update
Washburn Rural Varsity Jr. Blues defeated Maize Varsity Eagles 6-2 today at Eck Stadium.
Washburn Rural broke a 1-1 tie in the fifth inning when Austin Ditch delivered a two-run triple, followed by an RBI single from Aidan Newbery to extend the lead. Tyler Edmiston earned the win after allowing just two runs over five innings, while Preston Bahr secured the save.
Ditch finished with three RBIs, and Newbery led Washburn Rural with two hits.
For Maize, Scotty Hadley drove in two runs and Gavin Short collected two hits.
Washburn Rural will take on the winner of Free State and Shawnee Mission South in the 6A championship game. #sportsinkansas
