You all remember when @meta removed dozens of my documentations of the genocide by claiming that it is a pornography and sexual content !
Here is an investigation by @ajplus showing the full story with one of meta employees who got fired for just doing his job.
My full solidarity and support to Omar who was unjustly punished for simply refusing to allow the censoring of the truth and the crimes committed against Palestinians!
12 Ontario Mayors are formally requesting that @fordnation invoke the notwithstanding clause to suspend encampment residents' Charter-protected rights so that they can be removed from encampments. The letter cites the Grants Pass Supreme Court decision in the U.S., which allows local governments to criminalize unhoused people in lieu of building housing and shelter, or offering services. It's Draconian and represents an abdication of government responsibility for the welfare of homeless people.
This letter comes a day after @fordnation told @ONBigCityMayors to "have the backbone" to formally ask him to use the notwithstanding clause.
Ford has invoked the clause three times, twice successfully to both force back-to-work legislation and to limit criticism of his government through third-party advertising. With the Mayors of Barrie, Brampton, Brantford, Cambridge, Chatham-Kent, Clarington, Oakville, Oshawa, Pickering, St. Catherines, Sudbury, and Windsor taking responsibility for the ask, Ford could very well table legislation that invokes the notwithstanding clause to evict encampments, without municipalities needing to offer resources like shelter.
Even if you don't care about homeless people, you should be greatly alarmed that entire demographic groups are being targeted to have their Charter rights removed. Who's next?
Please remember that people with disabilities in Ontario are trying to survive on pennies. None of our costs are "covered" and many medications are not covered. We can't live on $4 hr. Nobody can. This is why MAiD isn't a choice. My health has gotten much worse living in poverty.
Taken last night at Bissell Center in Edmonton- they were over capacity and people standing outside. It was nearly -40! Told Kohkum’s out there, crying. They started a fire to keep warm. @ABDanielleSmith@JasonNixonAB there is not enough emergency shelter spaces unlike you’re claiming. Those whose encampments were torn down Weds were in this line up. Hello. On Saturday, November 24, 2023, from roughly 9:30 am to 11:30 pm, the City of Toronto moved forward with a plan to evict residents from the encampment in the yard at the Church of St. Stephen-in-the-Fields. The day was long and brutal. We have some thoughts. 🧵
The St Stephen’s clearing was the first encampment defence I’ve been to since I got rehoused.
I was at the church from 7:30am-8:30pm. The DAY AFTER NATIONAL HOUSING DAY, they brought the Claw out, after dark, after almost all of us had already been there for 12+hrs. 1/8

Tremendously powerful and emotional BBC interview with MSF's Dr. Tanya Haj-Hassan about conditions in Gaza.
She mentions the coining of surely the most awful acronym any of us have ever heard. WCNSF: Wounded Child No Surviving Family.
NEW: @UNHumanRights NY Office Director @CraigMokhiber resigns in protest over timidity of key parts of #UN system on issues pertaining to Palestinian Human Rights. In letter to @volker_turk he says: "This is a text-book case of genocide. The European, ethno-nationalist, settler colonial project in Palestine has entered its final phase, toward the expedited destruction of the last remnants of indigenous Palestinian life in #Palestine."
Today, Premier Doug Ford held his first news conference in nearly six weeks. Here's an edited sampling of how some of his answers to reporters' questions tended to wander away from the topic as his response went on. #onpoli
I repeat my call for a humanitarian ceasefire in the Middle East, the unconditional release of all hostages, and the delivery of life-saving supplies at the scale needed.
Everyone must assume their responsibilities.
This is a moment of truth.
History will judge us all.
"I may be First Minister of Scotland, but in this situation I feel powerless"
Scotland's First Minister, Humza Yousaf, tells @KathrynSamsonC4 he feels "helpless" watching his in-laws who are trapped in Gaza.
We are heartbroken to learn that the Ontario Government will dismantle the Moriyama designed Temple Bell at Ontario Place this Monday. This government is showing an incredible level of disrespect to the Japanese-Canadian community. Bring signage to our rally on Saturday! #onpoli
