"The people want the first Black Speaker."
No. The people want life to not be a fucking constant struggle. The "firsts" all mean fuck all if they are upholding white supremacy, imperialism & capitalism. The oppressed having a seat at the table with the oppressors isn't progress.
NEW: House Dems "inundated" w/ calls & emails urging them not to elect Jeffries speaker
One member told @axios they got "300-400" calls in 2 days
Another said "over 500"
A third said "higher" than 500: "It's our No. 1 issue, and it's not close." https://t.co/eKtNKwFi0f
DEMOCRATS MUST DELIVER
Trumpism grew out of the failure of the Democratic Party to stand with working families. That cannot continue. At a time of unprecedented income and wealth inequality and declining faith in democracy, Democrats MUST deliver. No excuses.
- Medicare for All
- A $20-an-hour minimum wage
- The PRO Act
- A wealth tax on billionaires, which would pay for universal childcare, free public colleges and universities, and a massive housing program
- An AI data center moratorium
- Bringing ICE under control and comprehensive immigration reform
- REAL campaign finance reform
How are students meant to push beyond what is expected if those teaching are pushing efficiency rather than substance in their own question? Why have we given up on expecting more and getting mad at the students for giving less?
Is this not a larger failure on AP and the education system rather than the students?
Wouldn't better evidence be the difference in answers between the same question 25 yrs later? The students have no say on the exam nor what is taught to prepare for the exam. -
the '25 question is a nothing-burger that relies heavily on subjective thinking. The question itself is heavily condensed, leaving the student to assume what is being wanted of the essay; compared to the 2000s, which explains everything directly.-
Illinoisans need an agenda that matches the scale and scope of the damage Donald Trump has inflicted.
This is a moment to think bigger and to tackle the challenges long ignored.
We are recommending 200 immediate steps in our playbook that the new Congress can take.
🌊Some highlights from JB Pritzker's "Day One" Agenda--his demands to the new Democratic Congress for legislation that should be introduced immediately:
🔵 Tariff refund checks to all Americans, with interest
🔵 Allow private lawsuits against ICE for constitutional violations
🔵 Make home medical care a required Medicaid benefit
🔵 Codified standards that bar agencies from cancelling grants over shifting "agency priorities"
🔵 Modernize SSI: raise the $2,000 asset limit (frozen since 1989) and end marriage penalties
🔵 Tax-exempt bond financing for new nuclear plants
🔵 A federal agency or oversight standards for dealing with gambling addiction nationally
🔵 Legislation making disaster aid based on measurable need, never on how a state voted
