The Vatican has officially issued a decree of excommunication to the bishops of the SSPX; +Alfonso de Galarreta, +Bernard Fellay, +Pascal Schreiber, +Michael Goldade, +Michel Poinsinet de Sivry, and +Marc Hanappier.
As regards the lay faithful, those who formally adhere to the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X are to be considered schismatic and excommunicated.
While it is typical of certain traditionalists to say that Vatican II affirmed the heresy of 'Modernism,' a heresy identified and condemned by papal magisterium under Pius X and others, Vatican II and post-conciliar magisterium quite explicitly reject it.
Here's a chart.
Photos of Yangjiaping Trappist monastery near Beijing, from the collection of Notre-Dame de Sept-Fons. In 1947, the monastery was destroyed on the orders of General Zhu De and the monks were forced to march in inhumane conditions.
"During this retreat Jesus, my blessed Lord, has deigned to give me an even clearer understanding of the necessity of keeping whole and intact my 'sense of faith' and my 'being of one mind with the Church', for he has shown me in a dazzling light the wisdom, timeliness and nobility of the measures taken by the Pope to safeguard the clergy in particular from the infection of modern errors (the so-called Modernist Jerrors), which in a crafty and tempting way are trying to undermine the foundations of Catholic doctrine. The painful experiences of this year, suffered here and there, the grave anxieties of the Holy Father and the pronouncements of the religious authorities have convinced me, without the need of other proof, that this wind of Modernism blows very strongly and more widely than seems at first sight, and that it may very likely strike and bewilder even those who were at first moved only by the desire to adapt the ancient truth of Christianity to modern needs. Many, some of them good men, have tallen into error, perhaps un-consciously; they have let themselves be swept into the field of error. The worst of it is that ideas lead very swiftly to the spirit of independence and private judgment about everything and everyone."
- Saint John XXIII, Journal of a soul P.241
🚨 Pope Leo XIV called out Spanish politicians TO THEIR FACES for their support for abortion and euthanasia:
'Can a community that casts into the shadows the unborn child, the elderly, the sick, those who suffer in silence, or those who depend entirely on the care of others be called fully just?'
Scene after Vat I: Abp. G. von Scherr: "Let us work anew for the holy Church!" Fr. I. Döllinger: "Yes, for the old Church!" S.: "There is only one Church, no new & no old." D.: "They have created a new one!" (Döllinger, who then supported the "Old Catholics", was excommunicated)
Vatican II teaches monogenism and a historical Adam.
Dei verbum
3 - Planning to make known the way of heavenly salvation, He went further and from the start manifested Himself to our first parents. Then after their fall His promise of redemption aroused in them the hope of being saved (see Gen. 3:15) and from that time on He ceaselessly kept the human race in His care, to give eternal life to those who perseveringly do good in search of salvation (see Rom. 2:6-7).
Lumen gentium
2 - Fallen in Adam, God the Father did not leave men to themselves, but ceaselessly offered helps to salvation, in view of Christ, the Redeemer… At the end of time it will gloriously achieve completion, when, as is read in the Fathers, all the just, from Adam and "from Abel, the just one, to the last of the elect," will be gathered together with the Father in the universal Church.
53 - she [Mary] belongs to the offspring of Adam
56 - Mary [is] a daughter of Adam… not a few of the early Fathers gladly assert in their preaching, "The knot of Eve's disobedience was untied by Mary's obedience; what the virgin Eve bound through her unbelief, the Virgin Mary loosened by her faith." Comparing Mary with Eve, they call her "the Mother of the living," and still more often they say: "death through Eve, life through Mary."
Gaudium et spes
22 - The truth is that only in the mystery of the incarnate Word does the mystery of man take on light. For Adam, the first man, was a figure of Him Who was to come, namely Christ the Lord. Christ, the final Adam, by the revelation of the mystery of the Father and His love, fully reveals man to man himself and makes his supreme calling clear. It is not surprising, then, that in Him all the aforementioned truths find their root and attain their crown.
He Who is "the image of the invisible God" (Col. 1:15), is Himself the perfect man. To the sons of Adam He restores the divine likeness which had been disfigured from the first sin onward.
Nostra aetate
1 - One is the community of all peoples, one their origin, for God made the whole human race to live over the face of the earth.
Presbyterorum ordinis
15 - By this obedience he conquered and made up for the disobedience of Adam, as the Apostle testifies, "for as by the disobedience of one man, many were made sinners, so also by the obedience of one, many shall be made just" (Rom 5:19).
"Both Evangelists present Joseph not as the biological father, but in any case, as fully the father of Jesus. Through him, Jesus fulfils the history of the covenant and salvation between God and humanity. For Matthew this history begins with Abraham; for Luke, with the very origin of humanity, that is, with Adam."
-Pope Francis, Catechesis 2 on St. Joseph
"But many difficulties, especially about the problem of evil, result from the fact that we do not see from on high the succession of time, but only successively. Thus we do not know that it is for the greater good of the world and of the Church that God permits this or that very great evil actually to happen. But if this succession of time were seen from on high by one glance, then evil would appear as a certain particularisation that is a condition of the higher good, as in a picture we have the harmonious blending of light and shade, especially so in the “light transcending obscurity.” In the above examples, as in that of the musical composition which is quoted by H. Bergson, there is a certain experimental knowledge of a life that bears a certain analogical resemblance to eternity. Thus, the investigation is completed in a less abstract and more concrete way."
Fr Reginald Garrigou Lagrange, prima pars commentary, p. 290.
Nenhum eclesiologista sério admitiria o fundamento lefebvrista.
Several dogmas contradicted by SSPX (at least in practice):
- On the disciplinary authority of the Pope (Quartus Supra)
- On the legitimacy of rites used by the Universal Church (Trent, s. 22, can. 7)
- On the necessity of canonical mission to be legitimate (Trent, s. 23, can. 7)
