The first step to a Winning Culture is COMMITMENT.
"No Deposit - No Return."
It is no secret that Winning Teams are Committed Teams.
How do you Commit?
Here are 5 COMMITMENTS of Winning Teams.
1: Commit to a WINNING ATTITUDE
Attitude is everything. A Winning Attitude is positive. A Winning Attitude is supportive. A Winning Attitude is responsive. Winning teams have a collective spirit. You can feel it when you are in the room.
2: Commit to a WINNING MINDSET
There are many ways to win. Winning is a mindset. Coaches need to define this every day. Winning Teams commit to this mindset every day. How will you play? How will you compete? How will you win?
3: Commit to WORK ETHIC
There is no secret to success: NO DEPOSIT - NO RETURN. You get out of life what you put into it. Winning teams understand the value of hard work. They have a collective understanding that hard work wins. There is NO Entitlement to winning teams.
4: Commit to TEAM PLAY
There is no I in TEAM. Winning teams commit to each other. They understand that WE > ME. They accept roles. They play with Mudita = Vicarious Joy in the Success of their Teammates.
5: Commit to ACCOUNTABILITY
Finally, winning teams hold each other accountable. If a player stumbles in their winning attitude, mindset, work ethic, and team play, the team holds them to account.

Sean McVay said, "We attack success. We don't fear failure."
There will always be challenges.
There will always be setbacks.
But when you're afraid to fail, you avoid taking the necessary risks.
You're not playing to win, you're playing not to lose.
When you worry about failure, you hold yourself back more than the failure itself ever could.
And when that happens, you're not living life to the fullest. You're not pushing yourself to your limits, and you're not growing.
4 Ways To Get Past Your Fear of Failure:
1. Reframe Failure as Feedback
Failure isn’t a sign of weakness, it’s a sign of bravery. True growth only happens when you learn from your mistakes. Take time to sit back and reframe your thoughts, language, and perception around challenges or “failures” that have happened to yourself or others. Embrace those challenges.
2. Embrace a Growth Mindset
A growth mindset starts with the belief that your abilities and intelligence can be developed through hard work, dedication, and perseverance. "Failure" is not the end but an opportunity for learning and growth. View it as a step towards success rather than a permanent setback. Growth only happens when you learn from your mistakes and make it a habit.
3. Run Through The Worst Case Scenarios
Run through what would happen if you do "fail". This allows you to face your fears head-on. List and those fears and the potential obstacles that may be hold you back. Think through the worst-case scenario and plan the steps to mitigate it. This process allows you to put your fears under a microscope and consider the potential benefits of taking action.
4. Be Courageous and Accept The Cost of Action
To face your fears, you need to accept your environment and have the courage to push through. Accept that there are different outcomes that may happen, but one result doesn't define you. Focus on the price of not taking action and think about what it would be like not to try. Understanding the cost of not trying empowers you to confront your fears, take calculated risks, and move closer to your goals.
"I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. Twenty-six times I’ve been trusted to take the game-winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed." –Michael Jordan

“If you practice at a high level all the time, you’ll be able to play in a game at a high level all the time. If you don’t do it in practice and you think you’ll be able to do it in a game probably not going to happen,” Nick Saban
"Today is the only important day of your life.
Yesterday is gone.
It will never change.
Tomorrow can only be affected by what you do in preparation today.
And failure to prepare is preparing to fail."

"Your mistakes don't lose you games. Your response to mistakes, lose you games. We don't want reactions; we want responses."
In sports and in life, your response-ability is your responsibility. Don't react (that's emotion) to mistakes. Respond (take action) to mistakes.
There's a ceiling to talent. There's no ceiling to someone's hunger & to someone's drive to be the best. How hard a team works, how hard they play, how together they are- there's no ceiling to that. Many times in life what's invisible is what's important.
