Noon today. C-SPAN. The U.S. Senate “met.” Sen. Ted Budd (R-NC) presided over a pro forma, then gaveled it back out. Recess still runs until September 14. Four more of these are on the calendar.

Budd’s statement: the idea that any Republican Senator does this to block Trump’s nominees — or is committing “treason” by doing it — is “as ridiculous as it is false.”

Almost nobody in the room. No debate. No votes. No SAVE America Act. No talking filibuster. Just the gavel that keeps the Senate technically “in session” so the President cannot fill vacancies while they stay home.

House is already back. Midterms are coming. Mike Lee already mapped the play: cancel the rest of the recess and stay until proof of citizenship and photo ID are law.

If this is not blocking the agenda, end the remaining four and come back to work.
