@andrew_leach@xprmg9cm5t I know the Senate question is performative... It's a conversation that needs to be had though. I don't agree with voting No to that one.
@Rory_Johnston While I don't love it overall, I do kind of enjoy the crow @andrew_leach has to eat with these diffs and diesel prices over the nwr refinery ๐
That thing has to got be printing for the AB government right now.
@ExnerPirot What's extra wild is oil sands tailings water is eaiser to treat then metal tailings... Hydrocarbons are easier to remove then metals, we just need a release criteria like you said!
This quarter, Trans Mountain utilization was 94% and the company returned $450 million to the Feds: $150m interest and $300m dividends.
14 months ago Guilbeault said it was running at 40% capacity, and he was wrong, and this month itโs full.
@BlairKing_ca@Mike49789607 I am not that worried about diluent, there was talk of reversing southern lights. If condensate prices jumped in AB, montney drilling would pick up quickly.
But oil by rail replacing line 5 flows to ON/QC would take years. In that time you would have severe shortages.
@JuneGoh_Sparta Any room on regulated fuel specifications? Could get more throughout through hydrotreaters if you allowed high sulfur fuel? Push it to the absolute limit of what modern engines will allow?
@shagbark_hick Population of Canada added 25% more people, off-road vehicles became really popular, a tonne of saw mills have closed (most Canadian lumber used to go to the states until trump and Biden imposed duties on softwood imports)
@MitchD2216@SilentSnow89 Blows my mind people are worried about the water consumption of this data center. Should have just built with cooling towers and saved the power. We have high water flows when cooling demand is high, the cooling demand in winter when water flows are low is nil
@andrew_leach Any opposition in Canada to data centers (especially in Alberta) baffles me. Everyone wants to be a clean energy super power, we a have a cold dry climate, natural gas in Alberta is as cheap as anywhere in NA... The water issue is peanuts compared to any other industrial facility
@DivaQBBQ I recently fell in love with Baltimore Pit beef sandwiches. Great way to use cheaper cuts and still get some smokey flavour fast. Tiger sauce might be new favourite sauce
@GranaPietro@Rory_Johnston Luckily edmonton has a new arena and Calgary is building a new one. The coliseum and the saddle dome can become giant bitumen tanks ๐
@Rory_Johnston The saddest thing about when this eventually ends will be no more @Rory_Johnston memes, and that's coming from a guy who works for an oil company
