Swiss geologist Dr. Toni Hagen—also an adviser to the United Nations—walked 14,000+ kilometres across #Nepal in the 1950s to understand its people, communities, and landscapes. 🇳🇵🇺🇳🇨🇭

His pioneering work guided some of the earliest UNDP-supported efforts in infrastructure🌉, healthcare🏥, and education🏫, laying the foundation for Nepal’s development.

As part of #UNDPNepal60, we are excited to share some of his extraordinary photographs capturing a Kathmandu Valley long before urban sprawl, when terraced fields, goats, and snow-capped peaks defined the landscape. 🏔️🐐👩‍🌾

Dr. Hagen’s legacy continues to inspire @UNDPNepal journey in empowering communities, tackling inequalities, and advancing sustainable development.

The #LITACA3 project, supported by JICA and @JapanGov, has transformed lives in Afghanistan.
Since 2021:
✅ 250K+ people have benefited, including 129,882 women.
✅ 92K+ labor days have been created.
