When people talk about microchip design by Indian students, ask yourself what picture pops into your head.
You probably think of hyper-elite institutions: the IITs / IISc / NITs. You tell yourself, “This is for the top 0.1%.”
Now, look at this map (attached). Look closely at those numbers.

Under the Chips to Startup (C2S) initiative, the govt plugged world-class, industrial-grade chip design software directly into computer rooms across 100s of colleges in tier-2, tier-3, and remote towns across India.
Think about what is happening right now, this very minute....
A student in a small college in Assam is not just memorizing formulas for an exam...she is drawing transistor layouts.
A hostel room in Bihar is not just discussing coding projects, a group of 20 yr olds is designing a custom AI accelerator chip.
A lab in Manipur is running design checks on micro-architectures that will eventually be etched onto real physical silicon.
For decades, foreign corporations treated India like an intellectual goldmine to be extracted. They took our best talent, paid them to build foreign patents, and sold the final chips back to us at exorbitant prices.
They thought chip design was an exclusive club. They thought Bharat would forever depend on foreign blueprints.
They did not realize we were quietly turning an entire nation into a giant, decentralized brain for global silicon.
Factories can be built with money. Foundries can be raised with concrete.
But an army of 10s of 1000s of young engineers, designing microchips from Srinagar to Imphal, from Jaipur to Tiruchirappalli?
That cannot be bought. That cannot be stopped.....
So let the doubters count nanometers in foreign blogs. Out here in our classrooms, from the metros to the farthest corners of Bharat, a new generation is writing the future of hardware.
The world thought we were only here to write their software. Bharat is now designing the silicon it runs on.

The commission system is not just labs/diagnostics to dr. Its also dr to dr & hospital to dr.
And its not just corruption or parallel economy. It impacts healthcare costs, drives unnecessary tests / procedures & also quality of care.
You may not get support from drs or their organisations for many of them have been coopted. But many yound drs will be grateful. All efforts by regulators to curb this have failed or been internally opposed by powerful drs & orgs who have vested interests.And thank you for mentioning the @IndJMedEthics ; yes we have been writing about this for years.

This child's case is one of the most difficult we have ever encountered!
This helpless baby was separated from his mother after birth and was sold to slaughter.

The answer? Stifling red tape, endless forms, and a blunt no. Noyce packs his bags, flies to Hong Kong, and eventually builds Intel.
Fast forward to 2005. Millions of dollars in cutting-edge semiconductor equipment arrive at an Indian port. It sits on the damp concrete. Weeks turn into months. Papers rot, approvals stall, and the machinery gathers dust until the foreign partners throw up their hands, load the crates back onto cargo ships, and leave.
For 60 years, this was our story.....
We were the back office of global tech, holding 20% of the world’s elite chip design talent, while 100% of our silicon fabrication was outsourced across the oceans. Every single piece of physical silicon that powered our defense radars, our satellites, our smartphones, and our power grids was bought from someone else.
Then came the global supply chain freeze (all thx to COVID), and a sudden, quiet realization: a country that does not control silicon does not control its own destiny....
In Dec 2021, the switch flipped. Bharat launched the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) with an initial fiscal war chest of ₹76000 Crore.
The global cynics called it ambitious; the skeptics called it impossible.
They forgot what happens when Bharat decides to move at full scale...🇮🇳🇮🇳
- Go to Sanand, Gujarat. What was once open soil is now a $2.75B advanced memory packaging fortress operated by Micron. Groundbreakings that used to take 6 years in bureaucratic limbo were compressed into < 90 days.
- Micron went from groundbreaking to commercial production in just 29 months. Kaynes OSAT stood up in a record 14 months.
- Travel east to Jagiroad, Assam. Deep in India's Northeast, Tata built a ₹27000 Crore OSAT facility designed to pump out 48M automotive and AI chips every single day.
-Drive into Dholera, Gujarat. Across 66 hectares (163 acres) rises India’s crown jewel: a ₹91000 Crore megafab being built by Tata Electronics with technology support from Taiwan’s PSMC.
Construction is in full swing. Once operational, its ultra-clean rooms will fabricate 28 nm (along with 40/55/90/110 nm) power-management ICs and microcontrollers, the central nervous systems of electric vehicles, defence platforms, and 5G towers on 300 mm silicon wafers.
- Today, 99.2% of mobile phones used in India are Made in India, and India stands as the world's 2nd largest mobile manufacturer by volume.
For people asking "Kya hi badla hai desh mein..."...Dikhaata hoon aapko ki kaise with a total budget allocation surging to ₹127500 Crore, India is moving from mere packaging to full-spectrum dominance:
- Indian engineers are now designing 2nm chips. Under the guidance of the NSA & PSA, a high-level committee is carving out proprietary, strategic silicon for defense, compute, and deeptech.
- From raw sand to silicon ingots, to advanced node fabs and specialty gases, India is subsidizing up to 40% of Fab Capex and up to 75% for strategic R&D and talent development.
- 100K+ design engineers are being trained, powered by EDA tools across 315 colleges, ensuring the brainpower stays home.
For people asking "Okay..but kuch value bhi add hoga.."...Let me share kya hoga / expected hai:
- ₹4 Lakh Crore total expected investment unlocked.
- ₹2 Lakh Crore per year in domestic production.
- ₹1 Lakh Crore per year in tech exports back to the world.
Now, I know the usual skeptics will still sit in their AC rooms, sip their tea / some other colorful liquid, and sing the same old cynical raaga: “Oh, but the West is already moving to smaller nanometers, what is India doing?”
Let them talk. Let them doubt.
Because while they talk, our engineers are stepping into dust free cleanrooms, lowering their visors, and forging physical silicon on Indian soil. We are not asking for a seat at their table anymore...we just built our own.
The era of waiting is over. The era of doubt is dead. Bharat karke dikhayega. 🇮🇳🇮🇳

Pune: Kalepadal Police Book 15 Individuals And Garage Operators For Modified ‘Pataka’ Silencers, Seize 11 Motorcycles After Midnight Biker Menace
Kalepadal Police have registered a criminal case against 18 individuals, including 15 motorcycle riders and three garage operators, for allegedly creating panic by riding motorcycles fitted with illegal modified "Pataka" silencers that produced deafening firecracker-like sounds in Mohammadwadi and surrounding areas. Police have seized 11 motorcycles and destroyed the illegal modified silencers.
The action follows multiple complaints from residents after a group of bikers allegedly rode recklessly between 11 pm on July 31 and 5 am on August 1 across Kad Nagar Chowk, Nyati Chowk, Raheja Vista Chowk, Undri, and Mohammadwadi, revving modified silencers that emitted explosive sounds. Videos of the riders were widely circulated on social media, prompting public outrage.
According to police, several residents contacted the Kalepadal Police Station, stating that the loud noises created an atmosphere of fear during the night, with elderly citizens and children being startled awake.
Acting on the complaints, a special police team gathered technical evidence and intelligence to identify the bikers. Based on the investigation, police traced the suspects and registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Motor Vehicles Act, the Central Motor Vehicles Rules for reckless driving, creating public nuisance, and using illegal vehicle modifications.
Police seized 11 motorcycles, most of them Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycles fitted with modified exhaust systems designed to produce loud firecracker-like sounds. The illegal silencers were removed and destroyed.
The investigation also revealed that three garage operators had allegedly installed the modified silencers on the motorcycles. Cases have been registered against the garage owners for facilitating the illegal modifications.

A scientist in Japan demonstrated that the air inside a forest strengthens your immune system for a full month
The study is incredibly fascinating:
Qing Li, an immunologist at Nippon Medical School in Tokyo, took 12 men on a 3-day forest trip. These were slow walks with no breathing exercises and no set route.
Then he tested their blood and found a surge in natural killer cells -- the immune cells your body uses to fight cancer and virus-infected cells.
Remarkably, the effect didn't fade when they went home, it was still measurable 30 days later.
A control group that walked the same distance through a city showed no change at all.
Pine, cedar, and cypress trees release compounds called phytoncides to defend themselves from insects and bacteria. You breathe them in, and Li believes they switch your immune cells into high gear.
He estimates one forest walk a month may be enough to keep those cells elevated all year.
The best medicine might not even need a prescription -- just a walk among the trees.
