How blessed am I!! To greet some state champions, but also to have a tiny part in supporting these girls and their coach Jaycie Willer in accomplishing the pinnacle in only their third year of competition! It’s a joy to serve them and cheer them on! #celebrategoodtimes
I’m watching a new gym going up, expanding our Middle School. But I’m most excited about the camaraderie that will be built for years to come in this space! #buildingforthefuture
The last guy off the field today was John Matocha. With a smile and a “thanks for coming!” he signed autographs for every kid who asked.
That’s our quarterback. That’s Mines Football.

To all of the Public Educators in Texas schools regardless of size, location or dynamic…This is our calling! This is our way to pay it forward and to leave it better than we found it so future generations can thrive! You are loved! You are significant & you matter! Thank You
More legislation doesn’t make better schools.
People would be mind blown by the mandates now that don’t really help kids or schools. Before we try something totally new, can we subtract from the current laws?
Have a “what actually works in practice & theory” conversation.
This is me. I am a 42 year old father and husband living with a currently fatal disease, ALS.
I tweet about ALS, advocacy, changing the world and my life. My tweets have been called inspiring and raw.
I dare you to follow me. You won’t regret it.
Vouchers will force many Texas communities to pay into a program they cannot use, and subsidize private school tuition for families that can already afford it. Tell your legislators to Pay Teachers, Not Private Schools: https://t.co/KiFdnQL6tf

Understand this… It will be much easier to hold the line opposing vouchers til the very end, then to hold the line against school safety or teacher money til the end. Elected officials - really reflect on that ultimatum (provided by Senate) & what side of it truly benefits TX.
TEA’s Teacher Vacancy Task Force final report was released back in February. It focused on 3 key areas: Compensation, Training/Support, & Working Conditions. What happened to #txlege focusing on these key areas? Instead bills such as #SB8 are attempting to divert monies from #txed and add additional testing.
#SB8 that aims to divert monies from #txed along with additional testing.
#SB9 creates Teacher Retention Allotment to increase teacher salaries by $2K in districts with 20k+ students, $6K in districts with less than 20k. Only to be provided in the 2023-24 school year.
#HB100 increases student allotment by $90 from $6,160 to $6,250 rather than what is needed.
What can you do? Tell your legislators to protect and support public ed.

I love Ted Lasso.
And I love this story about Brett Goldstein (the actor who plays Roy Kent).
Brett was hired as a writer for the show but started to feel like he actually could be one of the characters…
So he filmed himself doing a couple of scenes as Roy and sent it to the team for consideration.
He already HAD a job on the crew but he probably wouldn’t have been cast as a character without going out of his way to prove himself and then ASK for the role.
What else might you accomplish if you just pushed a little further?
If you asked for what you wanted?
