Most people admire Singapore today. Clean streets, world class infrastructure, the most powerful passport on earth.

But what interests me isn’t Singapore. It’s the mindset of the man who built it.

Lee Kuan Yew didn’t operate like a Prime Minister. He operated like a founder.

Singapore was Chinese, Malay and Indian, communities that could easily have split into enclaves and turned on each other. So he engineered it out.

Public housing was built with enforced ethnic quotas. Every estate had to reflect the country’s mix. You couldn’t cluster. You couldn’t separate.

His logic was simple - Proximity creates familiarity. Familiarity kills friction.

He didn’t preach unity. He built it into the floor plan.

People call him authoritarian. People call him a genius. Both are true. But the outcome isn’t up for debate, a nation with nothing became a nation everyone studies.

मोदी जी, कुर्सी स्थायी नहीं होती - आती-जाती रहती है। लेकिन आपने 12 वर्षों में शिक्षा ���्यवस्था को जिस हद तक बर्बाद किया है, उसकी कीमत भारत की एक पूरी युवा पीढ़ी चुका रही है।

Decided to be a good citizen. Inspired by PM’s call for austerity, left the car at home.
Auto to the Metro station: ₹30. Metro ticket: ₹30. Feeder bus for the last stretch: ₹20. Total one way: ₹80. Return journey: another ₹80. Grand daily total: ₹160.
My car gives 14 kilometres to a litre. Office is 7 kilometres from home. Roughly ₹100 a day, door to door, including the petrol and the quiet dignity of arriving without fuss.
Public transport, in other words, costs me ₹60 more than driving myself. Per day. In a city with a functioning Metro.
This is what we call last-mile connectivity gap — the small, unglamorous gap between the grand infrastructure and your actual front door. Austerity, apparently, is for the commuter alone. The PM travels by motorcade. The last I checked.
