This global recognition comes after years of efforts by child rights activist and Just Rights for Children, founder, Bhuwan Ribhu, whose grassroots movement across 782 districts helped push the demand from Indian villages to the UN.

With the United Nations establishing #27November as the #InternationalDayAgainstChildMarriage, I stand here carrying the courage and resolve of every partner of #JustRightsForChildren and our partners across the 99 countries of the #ChildMarriageFreeWorld movement.

They stood between children and impending child marriages, took the rule of law to the last mile, and helped mobilise 250 million people in a single day to pledge against this crime.

This Day did not begin in the halls of the United Nations. It began wherever someone chose to protect a child and make the #ruleoflaw work for them.

I thank every one of them. I stand here on behalf of each one of them. This historic Day belongs to all of them.

As the United Nations passes landmark resolution to establish #27November as the International Day for the Elimination of Child, Early and Forced Marriage, this moment brings together the persistence of civil society and the decisive political leadership needed to turn a global demand into action.

I remain deeply grateful to H.E. Dr Fatima Maada Bio, First Lady of Sierra Leone, for carrying this call forward with conviction and urgency.

Today, we walk together into the world, into these United Nations, carrying with us the hopes of children everywhere and the responsibility for our shared future.

आज भारत और विश्व के लिए एक ऐतिहासिक क्षण और अत्यंत गर्व का विषय है। #27नवम्बर 2024 को आदरणीय प्रधानमंत्री मोदी जी के निर्णायक नेतृत्व, आदरणीय मंत्री श्रीमती अन्नपूर्णा देवी जी, श्रीमती सावित्री ठाकुर जी और महिला एवं बाल विकास मंत्रालय @MinistryWCD की अगुवाई में #बालविवाहमुक्तभारत अभियान की शुरुआत हुई और 25 करोड़ भारतीयों ने इस अपराध के खिलाफ शपथ ली।

आज संयुक्त राष्ट्र ने उसी #27नवम्बर को अंतरराष्ट्रीय बाल विवाह विरोधी दिवस के रूप में मान्यता दी है। बाल विवाह मुक्त भारत का सपना आज बाल विवाह मुक्त विश्व की सोच बन गया है, और बच्चों की सुरक्षा में भारत विश्वगुरु के रूप में उभर रहा है।

ईश्वर की कृपा और साथियों की शुभकामनाओं से आज संयुक्त राष्ट्र में इस ऐतिहासिक पल का साक्षी बनने का सौभाग्य मिला। यह बाल विवाह के अंत की शुरुवात है।

The historic resolution to establish #27November as the International Day for the Elimination of Child, Early and Forced Marriage has now been tabled before the United Nations General Assembly. When I first called for this Day at the #CSW70 in March 2026, the purpose was clear: to create a dedicated global platform that strengthens accountability and brings everyone together in unified action to protect every child, especially girls.
