We usually look for a fancy dhaba or a big cafe to stop at during road trips.
But this time, on our way from Omkareshwar to Maheshwar, an aunty sitting by the roadside made us stop our car.
My friends and I had gone for the Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga darshan. After a wonderful darshan, we left for Maheshwar.
On the way, that typical 'light road-trip hunger' started kicking in.
That's when my eyes fell on a small roadside stall.
An aunty was frying fresh banana chips in a huge kadhai over a burning mud stove (chulha).
Seeing the chips being made, we stopped right there.
The sound of the boiling oil and the amazing aroma of the chips made it impossible not to talk to her.
I asked, "Aunty, how many years have you been making these chips here?"
She smiled and said, "It's been 5-6 years, beta. I set up my stall right here at this very spot."
During our chat, she shared a reality that forced all of us to think.
She said, "Cooking oil prices are touching the sky these days, everything is so expensive. But people who stop their cars here still bargain heavily for just ₹10-20. Sometimes, I am forced to lower the rate out of helplessness, because I have a house to run."
Hearing this felt really strange.
We spend thousands in malls on fixed prices without a second thought. We never ask for a discount on the MRP of big brand chips. But when it comes to people who are working so honestly in front of a burning fire, we feel a sense of victory in bargaining with them.
We bought 1 kg of fresh banana chips from her for ₹200, without any bargaining.
And honestly? The taste of those chips was a thousand times better than any expensive packaged chips. The peace of mind we got from paying her that money was something else.
I just have one question for all of you—
Whenever you are on a road trip and see a woman or an elderly person working so hard by the roadside, can't we just buy a little something from them without bargaining?
For you, it might just be ₹100-200, but for them, it's the groceries for their home.
I also recorded a short video of aunty making the chips, which you can see attached to this post.
Next time you travel, instead of a big restaurant, try buying from a local street vendor... It feels really good! ❤️
@ShrrinG Having visited Indore, Lucknow and Calcutta, multiple times i will endorse his statement. Apart from Poha i dont find anything unique in Indore. In 56 and Sarafa everything is loaded withcheese, butter and sev

@lazboy So this is the conversation i had with your reseller probably. Your team is not even talking to me. Reseller doesn’t even want to loop me in to the conversation. I have a valid invoice which has been validated. Why is warranty an issue?
