The biggest threat to CA fees might not be clients.
It might be other CAs.
One CA quotes ₹1 lakh for an audit. Another quotes ₹25,000.
ICAI's new tender guidelines (12 Oct 2026) draws a line:
• Exclusive CA services: No bidding without a prescribed minimum fee.
• No quoting below that minimum, even in reverse bidding.
• Fees must reflect actual work, time and manpower.
• Cost sheets must be maintained.
Different rules apply to non-exclusive services.
Are we protecting the value of our profession, or pricing ourselves out of it?

@keepitquiet403 Agreed on the growth part — metros definitely open more doors. I was just looking at it from a money angle. At the end of the day, what matters is how much of that bigger salary you actually get to keep.
That’s a pretty interesting system! I especially like the idea of keeping SIP money separate.
I’m still a diary person though. I use digital tools too, but when I actually write down how much I’ve spent, it hits differently. Makes me think twice about where my money is going. I guess that’s one habit I picked up from my mother!
My mother never owned a finance app. She had a diary.📒
My mother tracked every rupee.
Even a ₹20 note taken from her wallet had to be “told”, so she could write it down. At month end, she had her own expense report.
I became a CA at 22. The best lesson in cash flow I ever got came from her diary, not my syllabus.
In my experience, clients with five finance apps often can’t tell me where their money went. Clients with one notebook rarely miss an EMI.
Tracking beats tooling.
Who taught you about money? 👇
@pareek_mohit26 I get your point about emotions, and I agree they can affect our decisions. But isn’t that more about investor behaviour than the strategy itself? If you’re buying the shares back anyway, you’re still invested. And I’d genuinely like to read the research you’re referring to.
You made ₹1 lakh profit on your stocks. Why would you sell them if you don't need the money?
Here's why.
You bought shares for ₹2 lakh.
They're now worth ₹3 lakh.
Sell them after 12+ months → ₹1 lakh LTCG.
Under Section 112A, eligible LTCG up to ₹1.25 lakh in a financial year is tax-free.
Now buy those shares back at ₹3 lakh.
Your new purchase cost? ₹3 lakh instead of ₹2 lakh.
Same investment. Higher cost base. Potentially lower tax when you sell in the future.
It's called TAX GAIN HARVESTING.
And surprisingly, many investors don't use it.
But how does this hurt wealth creation? You’re buying back the same shares, so you’re still invested. You’re just increasing your cost base to potentially save tax later. Sure, transaction costs and timing matter, but I don’t see why saving tax and building wealth can’t go hand in hand.
Your ₹15 LPA package might not be the flex you think it is.
Not if you're spending half your salary just to afford the city where you earn it.
Someone earning ₹8 LPA in a smaller city could actually be saving more than you.
Higher rent. Daily commutes. Expensive weekends. Lifestyle inflation.
A bigger CTC doesn't always mean a bigger bank balance.
But then again, nobody puts their annual savings on LinkedIn.
