Look at the different script. It’s Pali/ Prakrit/ Brahmi or Urdu?
The Chhath Ghat infront of the Lauriya Ashokan Pillar seemed more maintained, clean than this which is simply taken care by local bodies, i guess.
And our HISTORY??
@ASIGoI
@sanjeevsinghx@ASIGoI Visited with so much of planning and excitement to know History.
See! Took this on 12.07.26.
Only disappointment.
Lauriya Nandangarh Stupa.
@ASIGoI
@sanjeevsinghx@ASIGoI Sir, parking and the entry gate is also worse than i think any place in Bihar having historical significance.
Locals are getting benefited but in a wrong way.. Grazing cows, broken boundary walls, no pavement ways to go upwards to the stupa peak.
Oldest accurately dated Banyan found in Munger, Bihar
A banyan tree in Munger, Bihar, estimated to be around 700 years old, has been identified as the oldest accurately dated banyan tree, Ficus benghalensis, using radiocarbon dating, a method that relies exclusively on scientific evidence rather than historical records or local lore
Banyan trees, with their intricate root and branch networks, provide habitats for a variety of wildlife, including birds and insects. They have also played a significant role in Indian social and cultural life for centuries

One more name could have been included. A very talented Prithvi Shaw... But the family wanted him to be identified as a "Mumbai boy."
A newspaper in Bihar allegedly received a request from Prithvi Shaw’s father, asking them to omit any mention of his Bihari heritage and to avoid using the original surname Gupta (Sahu/Shah). The family adopted the more cosmopolitan "Shaw" to blend into the Mumbai cricket scene and avoid potential regional bias.
He reportedly feared that such associations might jeopardise his son's career... At the time, Prithvi was a burgeoning talent, touted as the next Tendulkar.
Bihar is so diverse that it really needed to focus on regional branding... The Munger District Administration has recently published a tourism handbook titled "Munger: The Wellness Destination of India."
As the seat of the world’s first yoga university - the Bihar School of Yoga - and home to several geothermal hot water springs renowned for treating skin ailments, Munger can be perfectly positioned as a wellness hub. The handbook also beautifully integrates the ancient lore of King Karna and Ang Desh.
I got a copy. And it is truly impressive, tbh.

Munger also has the world renowned Bihar School of Yoga... but the town still lacks a good hotel.
If we use PCI as the primary metric for prosperity, Munger ranks 3rd after Patna and Begusarai. Hopefully, someone takes notice of the business opportunity.
A 700-year-old banyan tree in Munger, Bihar has been declared the world’s oldest banyan tree after scientific research.
The historic tree, located inside ITC Park, is now part of Bihar’s heritage tree list.
It looks like we’ve all been using the wrong Bihar state emblem. Every govt office and official document has been using an incorrect version.
I mentioned in my previous (quoted) post that the Urdu text wasn't originally there & must have been added much later. It actually was never the official design.
It appears that someone changed the bottom section mischievously, it got spread on internet too & everyone just copied it (Wikipedia also has the wrong version) until it became the standard version.
2nd option isn’t even food.
No one in my family, including my large extended family, has diabetes. None in last 4 generations. Paratha bhujia and daal / rajma chawal are our staple foods. It is more about your lifestyle than food.
Having the privilege to start with a clean genetic slate but given a very hectic lifestyle, I’ve added millets and more beans and drastically cut back on sugar... and exercise. You just need to focus on optimizing your lifestyle and NOT entirely change your food behaviour.
