Dr Chris?
1. Uganda now has over seven medical schools and reportedly graduates more than 3,000 medical professionals annually. In your view, what impact does this growing number of medical practitioners have on the country’s economy, healthcare system, and employment sector?
2. There is a common belief that hospital death rates tend to rise during the first one or two months when new medical interns or trainees begin work. From a medical and institutional perspective, is there any truth to this claim, and what factors could explain such trends?
3. Given the increasing concerns about medical negligence and professional competence, do you think the medical sector needs an institution equivalent to the Law Development Centre (LDC) to further assess, train, and polish graduates before they are fully licensed to practice independently?

I’ll be on the panel discussing Government Policy on Medical Interns — what’s working, the challenges, and what next for medical interns in Uganda.
I’ll also touch on Ebola as a standalone topic, drawing from response experiences and lessons for healthcare systems.
