M.T. Aggarwal Hospital in Mulund West, Mumbai, is a 14-floor hospital that was developed after nearly 10–12 years of waiting by the people of Mulund. It was expected to provide modern Super Speciality healthcare, 500+ beds, ICU, MICU and several advanced medical facilities.
However, a very serious question is now being raised by Mulund citizens:
If around 140 patients are admitted and the hospital is already considered “full”, then what is the purpose of having a 14-floor hospital building?
Patients and their relatives are reportedly being told that beds are not available and that they should go to a “higher centre” for further treatment.
This raises several important questions for the BMC Health Department and hospital administration:
➡️ What is the total sanctioned bed capacity of this 14-floor hospital?
➡️ How many beds are actually functional and available for patients today?
➡️ Why does the hospital reportedly become full after accommodating only around 140 patients?
➡️ How many doctors, specialist doctors and nurses are actually working?
➡️ How many sanctioned medical and nursing posts are vacant?
➡️ Why are patients being referred to higher centres when such a large 14-floor hospital was built for providing advanced healthcare?
➡️ Where are the promised 500+ beds, ICU, MICU and Super Speciality services?
According to the hospital's displayed department information, Medical Male Ward has only 30 beds, Medical Female Ward 30 beds, Emergency Ward 10 beds and Monsoon Ward 30 beds, while several other wards appear to have approximately 40 beds.
For a 14-floor hospital, the public deserves a clear explanation of the actual bed capacity and why such limited beds are currently available for admission.
There is also information that the hospital's electricity expenditure is approximately ₹45–₹50 lakh per month, while the project cost/budget is stated to be approximately ₹450–₹600 crore. If these figures are accurate, then the public has every right to demand complete transparency regarding expenditure, staffing, bed utilisation and the availability of medical facilities.
Mulund citizens waited 10–12 years for this hospital. They did not wait for a 14-floor building where patients are admitted up to around 140 and then told to go to a higher centre because there are no beds.
The BMC and Health Department must immediately clarify:
“What is the purpose of a 14-floor hospital if patients cannot get beds and are being sent to higher centres?”
My demands:
➡️ Publish the total sanctioned bed capacity of the hospital.
➡️ Publish the number of currently functional beds.
➡️ Publish the daily bed occupancy and availability.
➡️ Explain why the hospital becomes full after approximately 140 admissions, if this figure is accurate.
➡️ Immediately fill all vacant doctor, specialist doctor and nursing posts.
➡️ Start all pending ICU, MICU and Super Speciality services.
➡️ Publish department-wise sanctioned and working staff details.
➡️ Explain the reasons for referring patients to higher centres.
➡️ Publish the complete list of available and non-functional medical facilities.
➡️ Conduct a transparent performance and utilisation audit of this 14-floor hospital.
➡️ Publish a White Paper on the project's expenditure, bed capacity, staffing and operational facilities.
➡️ Give Mulund citizens a time-bound action plan to make the hospital fully functional.
A 14-floor hospital should not merely be a massive building — it must function as a fully equipped hospital capable of serving the people for whom it was built.
Mulund citizens deserve answers. They deserve beds. They deserve doctors. They deserve ICU/MICU and advanced medical care. Most importantly, they deserve a hospital that actually works to its full intended capacity.

@HeyItsMegha Yes, it is happening. One thai guava sells for Rs. 45-60. Whereas the desi Peru / Amrood sells for Rs 60-80 kg. I prefer desi variety, not the artificial ones. I hv grown up in Kanpur, where we get desi Amrood in winters, the taste is heavenly, eaten with salt & red chilli
