Leaders' Questions - Wednesday, 18th June 2025
The corporate takeover of Nursing Home Care while the State walks away from its responsibilities to the very people who built the country? -@MaryLouMcDonald#LQs#Dáil#NursingHomed
Our Majella is getting passionate about the response to failures yesterday at our demonstration. We need safeguarding Leglislation & a place to go when things go wrong. #Safeguardinglawsnow#humanrightsdonotgrowold
Maria Coleman, whose dad lives in #BeneavinManor, calls out the failures, the lack of care & broken promises. She highlights the impact on her mother and how the failure is not that of families but of the state. @HIQA@roinnslainte@kodonnellLK@MichealMartinTD #emeis #RteInvestigates
We demand safeguarding legislation now & reform all care provisions! Join us at Leinster House this Thursday, June 12th. We refuse to let documentaries be the only catalyst for change. The same care failures have plagued us from before the pandemic until now, creating new victims without real solutions. Action is long overdue. #OlderPeople #Disabilities #NursingHomes #ResidentialCare #HomeCare. Talks to start from 12 midday. All care groups are welcome! Let's stand together for change.
We are deeply grateful to @MaryLouMcDonald and @davidcullinane for their time today and for their ongoing commitment to Care Champions. We also extend our sincere appreciation to @darraghmackin of @PhoenixLawHR for meeting with us, we look forward to future collaboration.

The failures in care our loved ones suffered during & since the pandemic will not be ignored. We demand full transparency & a human rights inquiry to understand what went wrong and what was done well. Legislation and reform are essential to protect the rights and well-being of those in care now and in the future. #humanrightsdonotgrowold
Deputy John Lahart met with Care Champions today, we highlighted the urgent need for robust Adult Safeguarding & care partner Legislation, alongside our key requests & the necessity for a statutory COVID Inquiry. We look forward to future engagement. Thank you, @JohnLahart, for your time & for listening.
Care Champions welcomes the new nursing home regulations that prioritize residents' rights, including the right to a designated support person for visitation, including during pandemics. While we appreciate these changes, we continue to advocate for Care Partner legislation to extend similar protections to all residents in all residential care settings and hospitals. We believe a legal right to a support person should be guaranteed at all times. Furthermore, we are concerned that regulations alone are often insufficient for consistent compliance. Therefore, robust safeguarding legislation is essential to ensure enforceable protections for vulnerable individuals across all care environments.

FINAL CALL -LAST CHANCE TO CAST BALLOT IN FINAL TRINITY SEANAD ELECTION -Be Like Duke -Post Your Precious Vote (He Was Tempted By Rasher At Post Box 😂🦮) This Is My Last Campaign Message-Thanks For All Your Support -Good Luck To All Candidates -Please Vote SENATOR TOM CLONAN No1
In your acceptance speech in the @OireachtasNews, you poignantly referenced your late father's anniversary yesterday, sharing his life story with emotion. However, for many of us, the stories of our loved ones end tragically with accounts of neglect, suffering, loneliness & the lack of answers. We feel deeply ignored by you & Government. We urgently request a meeting with you to discuss the need for a comprehensive and transparent public inquiry into care during & since Covid-19 pandemic. We implore you and your Government to cease the vilification of bereaved & harmed families who are simply seeking answers. This treatment is unacceptable.
@MichealMartinTD@SimonHarrisTD@CarrollJennifer
While Zappone organized a party for her buddies (some Decision Makers) during the pandemic, our loved ones suffered & died alone and were denied the right to have loved ones to hold their hands. While these elites move on as of nothing happened. We visit graves. She should not return to politics. Her flippant response shows she has no understanding or care of the hurt caused.
